i have just been turned into a vampire and i have a pretty cool item that protects me form the sun. i really dont want any vampires working for me and i dont want to have to charm anyone to do this. i am a 14 level fighter that is all about brute power and force thats is how i play my guy. im head strong and very power hungry. i have just lost all my army in a huge war with the elfs and i have buddyed up with a lich and he is off making another army and in the mean time, their is a about 8 fighter/uncivilizedness/clans away from eveyone to the north. they are pretty large and what i would like to do is go up and i will get right to the point i want to have all them worship me and become a demigod in the end. i know its out their but i need a good closing for my guy because im not going to able to play for a long time because of a deployment. so any ideas would help alot. ps my guy is all on his own for this one because no one in my pary is an undead. i all my allies have died or dont want anything to do with me. and i really dont get along with wizards b/c they are all about them selfs and that clashes with my guy. thanks

Unless this is a solo adventure, I don't think you have much of a prayer. Aspirations of godhood, especially since your allies don't want anything to do with you, are probably going to be contrary to the fun of the group.

That being said, if you really want to power-game, pump up your Charisma, take the Leadership feat, and spawn as many vampires as you can. Order those spawn to make spawn of their own. Then command your vampire army to make excessive use of the dominate power to force the population to worship you. Oh, and stop taking levels of fighter. Those aren't doing you any good.

all i have underneath me is about 12 power minatour fighter and an 1/2 orc fighter/thief and a 11 level elf archer that is a pc. what help could i get from them. im all out of ideas. the thing about vampires i dont like is that my dm will have them try to kill me and i dont want to have to worry about that since i just got turned into one. i hate that he does that because i would be alot easer that way

how do gods become gods

DM fiat or they are already party of the campaign setting. The alternative is a dc 25 know(religion) check (spelled pun pun).

In forgotten Realms a god's power is controlled by how many worshippers he/she has AND how many people believe or know that he/she is around.

Lathander is "as" powerful as Selune, and Shar two of the original three gods, because he helps the common people. Tempus because he is a god of war, Mystra, the goddess of magic, Tyr is justice, helm is protection and Chantea is basically Mother Nature.

So start by being worshipped, then you have to be noticed by the over-god Ao in FR.

Good luck

The only way to become a god as far as D&D 3.5 game mechanics go is gain a divine rank. As far as I know there's only one sure fire way to do it, which is taking 12 levels in the Dragon Ascendant prestige class (located in the draconomicon) which requires you be a true dragon. However, it should be mentioned that the rule as written only states that:

a 12th level dragon ascendant is actually a quasi deity and can no longer die from natural causes

So it's not explicitly stated that you gain divine rank 0, only assumed since in order to be a quasi deity one must have divine rank 0. Otherwise you'll have beg your DM in such a convincing fashion that he allows you to ascend or gives you a quest in which ascension would be a reward.

However, it does bear mentioning at this point that:
a) Becoming a god means A LOT OF THINGS! Most of which are not necessarily meant to be gained by only one of the players in even the most powerful of groups (such powers are described in greater detail in the "deities and demigods" book).

b) At 14th level I wouldn't consider you powerful enough to garner the attention of even the lowliest god/goddess. Most gods tend to float around level 40 or so (mind you I'm referring mostly to the major gods of Faerun, so I might be wrong on the trend with regards to other settings), which means you've got a ways to go. However, Deities and Demigods cites their example character group at level 20, so maybe it's just me.

So that pretty much sums up divine ascension (that is, as far the D&D rule mechanics go, if you want to be god like in sheer power, being 20th level alone is more then enough to make certain characters able single handedly defeat armies) if we leave out all the more complicated bits like the amount of divine power available, managing to catch the attention of a god and things like that. Anyway, hope I helped.

P.S. Regarding pun-pun, did he actually become a god or attain divine rank according to the rules, or was he just infinitely powerful because of the infinite loop thing (I'm too lazy to read through the whole mass of text)?

Infinate loops power.

Destroying someone with a divine rank or two and assuming their portfolio also has done it in the past.

Last I checked Pun Pun is not an actual god; just more powerful than anything except DM fiat. Pun Pun has infinite divine ranks (the overgods only have 20ish), infinite stats, infinite hit dice, and any other benificial quality. All of this is completely independant of worshipers. So, infinitely powerful and has all the qualities of being a god except depending on worshipers.

The only rule legal way is to become a telepath, use greater (or was it true?) mind switch on a true dragon and then take the Dragon Ascendant PRC.

The only other way is DM fiat.
