Best Character Ever Rolled. [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-26-04, 06:46 PM Okay, maybe not the best ever rolled, but certainly the best I've ever rolled. Last weekend, rolling four die, keeping the best three, I rolled 18, 16, 16, 14, 14, 10. Equivilent to a 50 point buy (I think)! Can anyone beat that (I sure many can, I'd just like to hear about it).

Using 4d6, reroll lowest, 7 times, drop lowest score (this was a high power game)

17, 17, 16, 15, 14, 14.

Being a Druid/Ranger I went with

Str: 15
Dex: 14
Con 17
Int: 14
Wis: 16
Cha: 17

And went on to be a killing machine.

18 17 17 15 12 11 (Holy Crapola!) Method was 4d6, drop 1.

We used 4d6 reroll lowest.

I got 18 18 18 18 18 18.

My very first action in my very first game with my very first character was to cross a bridge.

I rolled a 2, a 3, and a 1 and fell to my death.

Going into a Paladin 5, Blackguard 7. :smirk:

4d6, drop lowest, reroll 1's once.

10-27-04, 12:37 AM We do pretty high-powered campaigns, and our method is 4d6 re-roll the lowest 12 times, pick the best 6 sets.

12 18 18 16 15 17 is my best, as i recall. I turned her into a rogue, and she's now an NPC in my friends world. (we played real long, went epic)

A Gnomish Wizard starting with 17 dexterity, and 19 constitution was nice :D

I've seen someone roll the same and with a 100 for percentile strength, pretty much the same thing happened to him except his death involved a half flooded sewer and length of chain.

Mind you I predict that soon this thread will be full of people accusing us of lying and proving it with their wonderfull statistics.

if your telling the truth: Damn, you are some lucky folks and i would like to hear more of your adventures (or non-adventures in the case of the half-orc that is deathly alergic to bridges)

if your not telling the truth: You tell a nice lie. You should be a DM somewhere. I would like to hear about any adventures you think up.

10-27-04, 12:04 PM Can't remember mine specifically, but it was equivalent to 62 point buy. It was using 4d6 drop the lowest, in the DnD Character Generator that shipped with the original 3.0 PHB. First roll for the character, made my jaw drop. It was a nasty bard.

10-27-04, 01:52 PM I started when all you rolled was 3d6, no rerolls, even with all 1's, in ORDER...first was strength, then dex...you didn't get to chose, it was D&D 1e...The dm and 7 of my friends watched...the rule was, everyone watched what each person rolled, so we all sat down at a large table and rolled up our character. I was the last one and I completely destroyed my dice rolling for every character since:

STR: 18
DEX: 18
CON: 18
INT: 14
WIS: 12
CHR: 18

Made him a rogue (nobody would play a 'thief', that's what they were called and we already had all the classes filled, but 'thief'). I still play him to this day...he "retired" for several years, but do to the campaign story that has been running for years, my DM asked me to unretire him. He's now a 9th level Rogue/ 3rd level Spy Master. (slow leveling, we only play once every 4-6 weeks).

I've rolled other characters...NEVER have gotten even a 17...let alone an 18. My DM has always tested me..."Dice gods gave you your ONE roll of a lifetime."

yeah...I believe so.

10-27-04, 02:30 PM I played in a 3-person group with a killer DM in 1e. After a TPK we all rolled up new characters. I got:

made a dwarf fighter, and maxxed my hit die. (this was back when you had to roll 1st level HP) The other two in the party rolled a Paladin and a Cleric, both with either max or one short of max HP. This was thrilling to a party used to the 3hp fighter and the 1hp thief and magic-user.

We bought gear, heard about a dungeon, and set off for it. First encounter: four goblins. They won inish, rushed me, all four hit, and I went down in a heap. The Paladin swings, fumbles, tosses his weapon at the cleric, and maxxes damage. The cleric heals himself. The goblins attack, two for each, all hit and drop the two remaining heroes. Total elapsed time: 2 rounds.

Altered it to become 17, 16, 16, 16, 16, 16. That was a good one :D

Character was blessed, I swear, was a fighter 18, and had rolled max HP for every HD but one, where he got an 8.

Character was also the leader of a group that basically followed him around like lemmings, since apparently I was the only player there to play o.O;

10-27-04, 10:34 PM The only time I make rolls like those is when I'm about to finish a RISK game...

Most of my PCs tend to be relatively low-powered - but I've DM'd and played with people who seem to regularly get 2-3 18s in their stats, while watched and with someone else's dice.

Actually, Comeliness was 1st edition, appearing only in Unearthed Arcana and Oriental Adventures.

Along the same lines, a Kensai I once rolled up:

Str 18/91 (rough equivalent to a 3rd edition 20)
Dex 18
Con 17
Int 18
Wis 18
Cha 15
Com 16 (after charisma modifier)

I had decided to play a warrior type, and when those stats came up, I chose Kensai, specialized in the No Daichi. Later to dual-class into Wizard (S&M type, customized), Cleric (also S&M), and maybe Thief (backstab with his damage output? What's 2d10 +31 x5? Maximized from Kensai?)

Right now, he's a Neutral Evil level 5 Wizard (evocation), level 3 Red Wizard. It was fun the first time I whipped out Dragon Breath (3rd level spell from Draconomicon).

The best I have ever seen? 18/75 18 18 18 18 17. It was 2nd ed. He made a bladesinger >< At first level he was thrashing two and three ogres.

Of course, we were rolling two sets of 6 stats and taking the best or something equally stupid.
