Markwolf 12-15-04, 06:48 PM	I think that to create a "invincible character" wuth 10 levels is not possible. because you can empower yourself with infinite defenses... but... what will your character do rather than defend itself? If you create a powerful character that deals tons of damage, surely it will be not so protected to receive damage, save from spells or something... :eek: In my personal oppinion. A good character is not the one that is invincible. Is the one that you can play with, enjoy the role play and interact with the table. You can, however, create invincible parties :D Anyway... I'll create a good character and i may be post it.
Kainy 12-15-04, 07:34 PM	It's possible to have an invincible character with only 10 levels... He just needs divine rank 20, and enormous wealth (though DR 20 can really provide that). As far as being unkillable at 10th level, no, by the RAW, with standard wealth, not going to happen. Then again, a 10th level character can SEEM invincible to Mr. 1st level commoner. Someone who can kill you and two of your buddies (10 or even 7 BAB from being 10th level = 2 attacks, plus the cleave feat, and your damage bonus will likely be +5 or higher, especially since you can PA it up vs. commoners) in six seconds would be pretty frightening. With TWF, or whirlwind, it gets even more impressive... to a commoner. To someone with as much experience, you're a risky challenge. Power is all relative.
Encard 12-15-04, 07:58 PM	It's possible to create something nearly invincible to a normal challenge for a 10th level character, yes. On the grand scale of things, however, I wouldn't put any money on it.

PhaedrusXY 12-15-04, 08:37 PM	No, but you almost can by 11th level. Become a lich. That's about as indestructible as you can get in D&D, if you hide your phylactery well... Of course, you get a level adjustment of +4 as soon as you become a lich, and so technically are then a 15th level character. But you can become one at level 11.

You just need the right combination of feats and templates and such... Hmm... - Trollblooded feat (from some Dragon issue) - Half-Fire Elemental template (or anything with fire subtype) - Ghedden template (from another Dragon issue) - Something immune to acid, death effects, and ability drain/damage. The first two give you +4 LA, I think, so if you can get the remaining requirements with your remaining 6 ECL you could do it. Everything that deals damage will do subdual damage to you, you'll be immune to subdual damage, and you'll be immune to more or less everything else that could kill you, except perhaps starvation/dehydration/asphyxiation. A few spells might still be able to get you, actually, like Implosion... Would need to find some way of dealing with that. Maybe just going with some low-LA full undead instead of Gheden might be best...

If you become an undead, you can't have regeneration normally (must have a Con score, check the SRD if you don't believe me). Also, the Sage has ruled that if you somehow become immune to the things that bypass your regeneration, then your regeneration becomes Fast Healing instead. So no, it's not possible to be truly invulnerable. You can come close, though.
