Ok, so we gotta create 3rd lvl characters
I wanna gear towards a character who focuses on a two-handed greatsword(or equivalent)
now i'm thinking human
but what is the best route to go with
fighter or barbarian?
and then which PrC is better suited to focus on one weapon?
What kind of feats should i be picking?
Thanks
I have access to most of the books, too

That depends on what kind of fighter you want to be. Fighter covers a lot of ground!

Do you want to be a 'dash in and slaughter the enemy in haze of bloodlust' fighter? Barbarian

A 'stand in the path of the foe and deny them access to my friends' fighter? Fighter, or Knight.

Before you ask what class, ask yourself about the character concept. Ask what role you want to fill,of the many options for 'fighter'. Who is he, where is he from? Where did he learn to use that great sword?

if your evil, diciple of dispater, i think. If im remembering right, which is questionable, that PrC give you improved crit range, add that to fighter bonus feats and a two handed falcion there is some level of unpleasentness there

Advice: Try placing this on the optimization boards.

Advice: After doing this, don't look at answers, they will all say "Play a Cleric with War-Domain" or "Play a Wizard, fighters suck".

Advice: Pick the one that suits your backstory.

Follow-up: If raised in a normal town, with normal parents, pick fighter.

If raised in tribal land, pick barbarian.

If raised in a mix of lands or can't decide use this instead.

Pick Barbarian if you think your man is skill-ful, free-minded and tough, whose melee capability is based more on his strong body than skill.
Big Strength Score, Will save improves, Big Hitpoints, Power Attack = God because of Strength Score (penalty to hit offset by BIG STRENGTH)

Pick Fighter if you think that the reason you are good at greatsword is training, and style-improvment. Pick fighter if you think your character could've been a soldier instead of an adventurer.
Feats: Focus, Spec, G-focus, G-Spec, PHB 2 Feats (mastery/weapon supremacy/the slashing weapon feat)

For a Treat: 10 Barb/10 Fighter

Have Fun

If your interested in just specializing in a particular weapon, then fighter is definatly the way to go. They are the only class with access to the weapon focus feats.

Or mix them both and make a Fighter Barbarian mix. Barbarian for the first level for the nice BAB and the Full HD. Second and third level fighter for the good BAB and ofcourse the two bounis feats.
