| metamind02-20-06, 01:18 PM | Do you have any good characters and/or NPCs that you would like to share? If so post them here! |
| Zhymth02-20-06, 04:34 PM | I have a pretty good character. It's nothing special but its a rogue fighter gestalt. My DM made a really cool weapon for it called the Dragon's Tongue Rapier which gets a fire bonus and a +9 weapon bonus. I've been playing the Temple Of Elemental Evil and its really cool |
| Meshakhad02-20-06, 06:12 PM | My latest character is, quite simply, the COOLEST PALADIN EVER. I give you Naliatha Usmarin. Race: Half-celestial aventi (aventi are an aquatic human race from Stormwrack). Class: Paladin (just reached l4) Naliatha is an aquatic paladin. Forget the knight in plate mail with big sword concept. She wears mithral chain, and uses a spear - the holy weapon of the aventi god, Aventernus (also a piercing weapon so she can use it underwater with no penalties). Naliatha can also fly. She is the master of the sea and the sky. Her tactics depend on the circumstances. In a dungeon, she fights normally. In water, or in the open, she uses her mobility to evade landbound opponents. |
| psionic pi master02-20-06, 06:49 PM | Two of my best charecters have been a half-Orc paliden, and a nameless barbarian. The Half-Orc Paliden was really fun to play, since everyone asumed me to be like any other paliden. The barbarain had no name (went by X), and completly hates all goverment. He felt it was completly fine to kill goverment since goverment is an evil force and removing it helps the people of the world. A very extreme CG. |
| Kuddhama02-20-06, 07:00 PM | In one of the campaigns I am participating in, I have a particularily awesome character. His name is Kuddhama (oriental campaign), the lvl 20 half-ogre monk. Here are some random stats: Strength 27 Dexterity 20 Consitution 20 Intelligence 15 Wisdom 12 Charisma 16 AC 28 And my personal favourite: +42 grapple modifier. Kuddhama has just recently reached lvl 20, and he is a demigod-to-be. My DM is going to set me through some trials to claim my godhood. I also have 4 arms (a gift from Hextor). Also, since my character doesn't even remotely come close to his expected wealth, I'm going to have a lot of money to spend on stat boosting items. I give my DM nightmares.:smirk: |

Also, since my character doesn't even remotely come close to his expected wealth, I'm going to have a lot of money to spend on stat boosting items. I give my DM nightmares.:smirk: Now that he has reached level 20, and no longer has to worry about a BAB progression due to epic level progression, you should enter him into the Warhulk PrC from Miniatures Handbook. There are some cool abilities, but the best part of that class is the +20 STR at the end of the PrC. My two current characters are a duo. One is a Drow/Shadow Template/FIG 3/WIZ 7/Talon of Tiamat 10/ Kindred of Tiamat (homebrew epic progression) 8, and the other is his cohort (and wife) - a Halfling CLR 5/WIZ 5/Mystic Theurge 17. Stats for the Drow: STR 24, DEX 30, CON 25, INT 38, WIS 18, CHA 26 Stats for the Halfling: STR 20, DEX 22, CON 14, INT 32, WIS 30, CHA 15 I have used tomes and magic items to get the stats this high. The versatility that these two have is amazing. They are pretty hard to handle, though. Both are spellcasters, and one is two spellcasters. |
| Kerri_Evanwood02-21-06, 05:07 AM | A character I once played from level 1 to 17 was a very interesting combo. She was a human fighter with the Vow of Poverty, who fought unarmored and with a quarterstaff (Two-Weapon fighting tree). She was quite powerful. |
| Lionhearted02-21-06, 10:14 AM | my absolute favorite must be the first character i ever made the half-elf druid Aegin Stoneblade. he wasnt partically smart, but likewise a nice fellah. str 12 dex 12 con 12 int 6 wis 16 cha 16 (you can see how much i loved bearform with this char :) ) he wasnt very patient, nor very longsighted. but he was inventive! every time he faced a problem he solved it in his own. way often a way that left the other characters rolling on the floor . He was a devil in combat and a companion to be trusted, but they never learned not to overestimate his wit. among his bravados was, trying to headbutt a solid wooden door into submition in his humanoid form (earning him the nickname headbanger), getting caught while contacting the criminell elements of the city, jumping up on the shoulders of an ogre guard and trying to choke him (the ogre didnt laugh when i turned into a 1000lb bear on his shoulders). trying to jump a 30ft chasm (he was luckily tied up with a rope the rogue had attached to him) attempting to make a rogues work, detecting traps. (ended up half dead in the bottom of a pit, luckily he could spontanious cast stone shape), transforming into a rat and sneaked into a gypspy camp (cats anyone?) to mention a few... |
| obrysii02-21-06, 11:15 AM | My most powerful: Avo, gestalt Wood Elf Werebear 9/Warshaper 3/Warhulk 8//Monk 20. Only got to level 5, but he was doing 3d6 damage with each unarmed strike. My favorite: Ravi Ollie (with familiar, Noodles), a Bullywug Hexblade 4/Talon of Tiamat 10/Dragon Disciple 6. Only got to level 8 with him, but he had 145hp at that level. He was so spastic, it was always fun to play him. |
| metamind02-21-06, 11:34 AM | These are great! Keep 'em coming! |
| Saxis02-21-06, 12:41 PM | My two Favorites at the moment are: Fug Lee: CN male Half-orc, Fighter 4/Barbarian 21. He’s a 4-armed battle machine specializing in the Two-bladed sword. He uses 2 short swords in his other off hands, and dishes out 14 attacks per round with his Bracers of Blinding Strike. Most enemies are lucky to live past the first round, after he Dire Charges 160 feet and makes a full attack. His stats are (with magic items and raging): Str 38, Dex 28, Con 26, Int 10, Wis 10, Cha 4 His prize possession is an Intelligent (6), NG, +10/+5 Two-bladed sword, Shocking Frost on both ends. It also grants him Passwall at will and Blind-fighting. Other notable gear: Vest of SR 40, Boots of Swiftness, Amulet of Natural +7, Ring of Protection +6, Celestial Armor (buffed to +5 by Cleric), Cloak of Resistance +8, and a Buckler of Absorbing that grants him the Improved Buckler Defense feat (buffed to +5 by Cleric). Puts is AC at 50, 48 while Raging. He’s just a fun beast to play, although he’s reckless and often charges ahead of the party and ends up in trouble! Shadow: CN female Whisper Gnome, Rogue 8/Shadowdancer 4. This was designed as an ultimate Sneak-thief. She started at Chaotic Evil, wanting to join the Assassins, but hated being untrusted by the Dwarven city (they won’t let her in the gates, and won’t let her purchase goods there). She respects her party members, but often secludes herself from the all-male group. She’s heading into Teflemmar Shadowlord for the next 6 levels, and finish with 2 more Rogue. Her feats will include Dodge, Weapon Finesse, Mobility, Combat Reflexes, Blind-fighting, Spring Attack, Cloak Dance, Darkstalker and Improved Initiative. One of my feat slots was a permanent addition from a magic item I touched. (DM let us choose the feat!) Plan on taking Improved Initiative as my Rogue bonus feat, but that could change. Eventually, she will use a kind of “See no evil, hear no evil” combat strategy, where she casts Silence and Deeper Darkness on herself, Shadow Pouncing into combat, where the enemy hopefully can’t see or hear her. Against casters with True Seeing, she can use Cloak Dance and Hide extremely well still. Silence should also be effective against casters. Stats are (with magic items): Str 12, Dex 24, Con 14, Int 18, Wis 10, Cha 10. This one is also a blast to play, and she’ll get much better when I start getting into Shadowlord levels! I’ve also been wanting to play a Fochlucan Buffer build that I came up with. It takes some tricks to pull off though, and I’ve yet to find a game where I can do it. It relies on the Bardic Tutelage home region to learn the Druidic language, to qualify for the Fochlucan Lyrist. Otherwise, I would play it as a CG Strongheart Halfling, Bard 4/Archivist 4/Master Thrower 2/Foclucan Lyrist 10. Using Words of Creation and Bardsong, Cleric buffs and Archivist’s Dark Knowledge, it will be able to give a party around +12 to +15 to attack and around +10 to damage. Also throws daggers into combat pretty effectively. This will definitely make my favorite character list when/if I ever get to try it! |
| TheraerTheWanderingBard02-21-06, 12:56 PM | Lets see, my favorite character would have to be the Raptoran that i am currently playing he is a lvl 7 bard, planning on entering the Seeker of the Song PrC. Theraer, Raptoran Bard 7 His stats are (or at least as close as i can remember them) Str: 14 Dex: 16 Con: 14 Int: 15 Wis: 12 Cha: 18 (20 with items) Currently he is being hunted down by his crazy brother who is bent on killing him. Long in his past he killed his parents, although not of his own will, he was kicked out of his hometown and his brother has hunted him ever since. he is crazy, he has +26 diplomacy, +20 Perform/bluff... And he is just really fun to play. His favorite spell combo to use is Wave of Grief and Dirge of Discord. Overall just really really fun to play. |
| Ashok_Lal02-21-06, 10:40 PM | Elf FTR/4 ROG/5 TEMPLE RAIDER/1 ACROBAT/6 WIZ1 ST18 DX26 CN14 INT17 WIS12 CHA16 Gets himself into trouble all the time and always has to get his freind to get him out of it. We are a 2 member party. he is a 1/2 elf CLR/7 ROG/4 TEMPLE RAIDER/3 SHADOW DANCER/2 together there is not much we cant do |
| SanguinaryPanda02-22-06, 12:32 AM | My current character, and so far my favorite, is Bashr the Brewmage. Dwarf Fighter 1/Wizard 2/Runesmith 1/Psion 3/Cerebremancer 10/Eldritch Knight 3 (That's the planned build anyway, I'm only 7th now) Bashr has a Rhinoceros mount named Betty, whom he rides while riding a +1 Spellstoring Lance (with a Combust spell) After that the +9 armor bonus from the Battle Plate and the +3 bonus from the Extreme Large Metal Shield keep him well protected, while his +1 Flaming Waraxe allows him to dish out some serious damage. Bashr is the item crafter of the group, and specializes in Alcoholic Potions. He brews traditional alcohol for income and has a surly but kind demeanor. He is Chaotic Neutral in alignment, not Chaotic Good because of his willingness to commit Evil acts against evil people. In the last encounter he faced two decietful foes, a Doppleganger and an evil cleric. Betty sat on and 'wiggled' on the Doppleganger, while Bashr proceeded to amputate the Doppleganger's arm and cauterize the wound. The priest was impaled onto the wall of his church and similiarly interrogated. Great quotes:: 'My rhino can be gentle' 'NO MORE AMPUTATIONS' |
| Evil Weevil02-22-06, 01:24 AM | Currently I am playing probably one of my most unsual characters, Nyenloc or "Nye" who is a CG 3rd level Sanctified Imp (Savage Progression). Not exactly the most powerful character but he is stupidly funny and very annoying to authority figures. His best friend is a 4th level Dragonborn Paladin, so not alot of love for them in cities. |
| xvthreetwoonevx02-22-06, 01:47 AM | ECL 14 Half-Ogre, by name of Smash (Yes, I already know of a famous Ogre with the same name, didn't seem like anything else would fit.) with the Titan bloodline and Monkey Grip. He weilded a Gargantuan Longaxe, had levels in Warhulk. MASSIVE strength, a weapon that was actually larger than him, charged every chance he got to make use of Leap Attack and Awesome Blow, but dumb as a rock and SO much fun to play. He consistently couldn't understand why the other fighters in the party used such puny weapons and whenever they were unarmed he would hand them the largest object within arm's reach, and then look at them quizzically when they opted to go without a weapon. He took Throw Anything, was going into Hulking Hurler later on, and would toss his Gargantuan Longaxe at anything he couldn't charge at, and would then proceed to uproot a tree, or, if nothing else was at hand, throw one of his enemies at whatever he was trying to hit. Loads of fun to play, dished out some serious damage in battle, too. |
| Silverthumb12802-22-06, 02:24 AM | I have a Githzerai Soulknife named Shenkrel. In the sense that anyone from the chaos of Limbo might be, he's rather like a Paladin. Devoted to sharpening his mind and body to become the purest weapon against the enemies of the Githzerai. As a matter of fact, he sharpens his hatred so intensely that his mindblade actually changes color upon piercing the flesh, depending on the color of the opponent's skin(example: purple for Illithids, pale greenish-yellow for Githyanki, and varied by Slaad). Before battle, he bows to his knees and chants a short prayer to Zerthimon(tracing Zerthimon's holy symbol, which he has tattooed across his arm), and from then on remains completely silent and solemn, not even crying out in pain, pushing his entire focus through his body, loosing it from the tips of his hands and guiding his feet across the field. While generally quite weary, almost bigoted against anyone who isn't a Githzerai, he recognizes those with similar goals as companions, and with as many enemies as his kind have, help is crucial. Mostly, his feats are spent on the Two-Weapon Fighting tree, since in Longsword and Bastard Sword forms, he can't utilize Weapon Finesse and his very high Dexterity. Plus, its helpful with his ability to throw his mindblade(Multiple Throw) as it allows him double the number of blades he can throw. |
| Moon-Lancer02-22-06, 02:38 AM | Terran. He is My most Favorite. He started out an elf, but he died (player stupidity and the dm partially planned the death). He was a vop druid. However, on his death he was granted an opportunity at second life to give up his immortal soul and fuse it with his body, making him a fey. There would be even more restrictions to being a fey (via complete guide to fey, only with some rules taken out) but he took that risk. Its pritty fun. I am at a loss of how to play him, but i try anyway. You can read more about Terran and his pre fey chapters in my sig. pm me feedback if you like, and i shale give you feedback on your characters background as well. |
| Fenris7802-22-06, 02:41 AM | God you guys have some exotic builds! Our group seems to stick with a relatively normal selection of classes and races... Anyway, my favorite character was Thask Hammerfell, a CN dwarven Barbarian 4/Figher 8. He had a wisdom score of 8, and a deep an abiding fear of cave-ins (he'd been trapped in one before and injured, hence the low wisdom). He had tattoos all round the side of his head, was mad as a sack of dire-badgers, got on very well with the elf ranger despite having been shot in the back due to fumbles many, many times over. He had spiked armour, a flaming dwarven war-axe and I loved him very much. He died once while fighting shadows (bloody strength drain), and again (and wasn't ressurrected) fighting a vampire lord (bloody level drain). The downside to being the only tank in a party of abject cowards :P Still, somewhere out there is a demon-legged (don't ask), flaming axe weilding, psychotic dwarven vampire, and that makes me happy. |
| Silverthumb12802-22-06, 04:55 AM | Still, somewhere out there is a demon-legged (don't ask), flaming axe weilding, psychotic dwarven vampire, and that makes me happy. Gotta love Dwarf Barbarians. :D One of the best +0 ECL, core combos ever, and crazy fun, too. |
| v209902-22-06, 07:18 AM | My latest character is, quite simply, the COOLEST PALADIN EVER. In water, or in the open, she uses her mobility to evade landbound opponents. this is soooo munchkin cover both air and sea |
| Fenris7802-22-06, 08:14 AM | Gotta love Dwarf Barbarians. :D One of the best +0 ECL, core combos ever, and crazy fun, too. Aye - he was great. As basically the only melee combatant in the group (oh, and trap finder/setter-off-er as we didn't have a rogue) as well, he needed to be able to suck up the pain. Con of 20, Improved Toughness and Rage meant he could take quite a lot of punishment. Unfortunately with a Will save of about +2 at 12th level he had a pretty big achilles heel! |
| Bryarr02-22-06, 09:07 AM | Liam of Procan (the god of sea and storms from greyhawk) Male Human Cleric 5 Currently the DMPC in the campaign I run (don't flame me, there are 3 players and none wants to play a divine caster). He's a really nice guy, but totally clueless as to how the world works: When at the docs, they found a dead man's body. Not knowing what to do, Liam suggested returning him to the sea, to honor Procan. So, they dumped him in the water. Liam said a few words with his head looking at the sky. Then he looked down, and saw the body floating in the water. "Huh," he said matter of factly. "For some reason, I'd thought that he would have sunk." Around the temple, he's the butt of many jokes. So eager to get rid of him, in fact, the party managed to hire his services from the temple, indefinately, for 25 gp. Next level he enters the Stormlord PrC, assuming I can engineer a encounter with an irate druid so that Liam can get lightning bolted (to meet the prereq). Bry |
| Gurthoron02-22-06, 09:46 AM | Well, lets see Most Powerful Samir Duran: Gestalt Fallen Solar (homebrew, basically Solar without the Cleric spells and with modified Spell-like abilities list) Rogue 28/Gatecrasher 8 (something like that) Diety level 3. My character in our groups first Dieties campaign, a spike chain tripper with added ability to do sneak attack damage on practically everything. He came out a little overpowered (Yes, overpowered as a Gestalt lvl 30ish Diety) due to permanencied Masochism and Sadism spells and insane alchemical skills that allowed him to fill bags of holding with super-charged Alchemist's Fire. I think he could use a full lvl I bag to do 750D6 Fire damage. The Masochism and Sadism added a +1 to attack rolls, skill checks and saves everytime he took or dealt 10 points of damage, and he often was dealing around 200 points. Finally, between hideous statline, divine abilities, and what have you he was nearly impossible to hit. Ticked the DM off to no end when I just waltzed through his high powered enemies without taking damage. Notable moments include opening a portal sealed by the dieties themselves for ages in a round by using an Open Lock check (I love Gatecrasher), bull rushing four paragon solars through a prismatic sphere someone else has erected (I made all the saves with ease due to Sadism bonuses), and destroying a devastation vermin by dumping a bag of fire over it to prove his worth to one of the Lords of Hell. Renshi: Wu-Jen 36 Diety 8 human. Fairly standard in most regards, but the combination of being able to just think up spells automatically with Epic Spellcasting turned him into a buffing machine the likes of which I had never seen. It may have directly contributed to that dieties campaign ending, sadly. He worked up a 14 day schedule over which he boosted every party members stats by a minimum of 20 or so, with a bonus of 50 to his own intelligence. The meanest part of that was every time he buffed his intelligence his Spellcraft increased, so the amount he could buff himself increased, etc. Fun little infinite loop. He really had no lack of spells, with the ability to cast up to 30 something level spells. I just wish I had the forethought to take Arcane Strike to play with, as he could have turned into a fairly good damage dealer with a few of his buffs and the extensive use of that. Favorite Beleg Valar: A were-dragon (homebrew with a long story behind it) Ranger/Foe hunter, ended up somewere around lvl 25. Specialized in hunting and slaying dragons. Against most enemies he was nothing special but against dragons . . . he was scary. He soloed dragons with a CR higher than his level. Slightly psychotic, with massive alignment changes due to the were-dragon template screwing with him. (He started as a were-black, turned into a were-silver due to a ressurection spell in an area that affects divine magic strangely, then turned into essentially a Platinum dragon were-human after pleading with Bahamut. Started True Neutral leaning towards CE, then got spun 360 and went LG) He was the only PC that died in that campaign (3 times) but came back after each. Just a fun character to play, and still occasionally quoted today. His doppler-effect ranting about blue dragons was great. (He had a speed of at least 120 ft, and was screaming imprecations about Blues while running past them after one. Thus, the dopple effect of "F%&king Blue Dragons!" was born.) |
| Sgt_Slaughter94302-22-06, 08:58 PM | MY MOST POWERFUL CHARACTER: Theica Runeair(Thay-ica); NG Reincarnated Female Elf 16 wizard/6 archmage.knows every PHB spell from 0st-4th(Dm spellbook :D )(also killed the following characters by breaking the staff of power whilst fighting a gem golem) A TIE FOR MY FAVORITE Eldon Hilltopple; CN Male halfling rogue10/9 assassin:has an underground assassin's guild and has been killed by the staff of power. He also LOVES his daggers!! Dante Battleswift; TN Stonegrunt 13 fighter/4 gladiator/1 seigegrunt:swings around a fullblade(+5 vorpal)and adamantium large greatswords(2 of em :D ) he also throws his beloved crowbar into people's necks(with a crit)if he finds himself not wanting to waste some crossbow bolts. |
| DeadKeepWalking02-22-06, 09:16 PM | If any of the characters I played actually lived long enough to become something, I may have had something to add froma player's perspective. From a DMs perspective, I have a character that has been a thorn in the side of PCs for many sessions, and one player, as his character, actually hates this NPC with a passion because he is always outsmarted by this NPC. Unlike most BBEGs, he goes out of his way to avoid fighting face to face with the players. Plans for everything, has many of the resources needed to plan for everything, always has an escape plan that doesn't rely on magic, always has an escape plan that uses magic, and manipulates everything to his advantage and will help the players if it is to his advantage. Game wise, he is just a 20th level, Lawful Neutral, Human Ranger. Personality wise, he is a tactician, political manipulater, and acts superior around the PCs, when they actually "corner" (and I use the term loosely) him. It is the personality that you give a character that makes them memorable. |
| Silverthumb12802-22-06, 09:20 PM | Aye - he was great. Yes, but then, most effects that require a Will save are magical, and as a Dwarf, you get a bonus against magic. :D I've seen some low-level mages lose their cool against my Dwarf's 14 Wisdom and +2 bonus vs spells. A net +4 vs magical will saves at 1st level? Yes, they aren't having any of that. :P A suggestion to you bearers of dwarf barbarians: one level of Berserk(Deities & Demigods PrC) will cause a lot of mayhem on top of any mayhem you'd already be causing. |
| Lionhearted02-23-06, 01:27 PM | another favorite character of mine, an Psychic warrior/ Ex-holy librator/Blackguard. did a total 180 after she accidentily killed the paladin and he got greedy (part of the atonement was to forge a ring for the paladin) i decided that the paladin was corrupt and had to die, forged an bond with an horror (really bad ass extra planar entity) Now i plot to kill the paladin as i play the character behind the curtain |
| Rivelstraz02-23-06, 02:39 PM | I've a short experience playing (I'm DM most of time) but well, I still got my characters: Best. A female human ranger, level 9. I "power-gamed" her in the skills department to say so. In a balanced campaign, she'd have been very entertainting, but in a power-gaming campaign with combat being way more important than roleplaying or skills, she became minor. Favoriute. Coloss, a male gnome illusionist. It was in a campaign with very unstable magic, so each spell had a chance to fail (I was warned, the rest of the party was formed by warriors, barbarians and rogues) and I still can't believe that, having a 30% of success, I managed to fail all my spells for six days in a row. So I had to end rellying on skills and my super staff mastery to make my way in this world of melee. I really enjoyed every single bit of Coloss, since I always had a funky excuse of why the spell failed or why I missed at melee. I ended giving some tips to the Barbarian half-orc in the group about how "smash harder". I need to remake him somehow... |
| Syd_Galion02-23-06, 03:05 PM | Fav Cuurin, male Elf ftr3/rog3/blademaster(homebrew)10/pal4/knight of the chalice 1 Had his heart exploded by a halfdemon giant spider. While dead, he got to speak with corellon and so became a paladin with the intention of slaying demons shortly after being rezed. He even had a cohort for a good while clr3/wiz3/mt10/ad2. Although she no longer fits the requirement for a cohort, the DM keeps her around because she's the only one with any magic. most power We have this gestalt game we play from time to time. We are running through a modified version of night below. Sato Ichi (yeah I know a little to close to a certain blind swordsman) nin7/sd2/bd1 with the other side being a 10sorc. He very powerfull which makes some the enconters a little to easy for my taste but overall the game is still very fun. |
| belthazzar111302-24-06, 04:26 PM | playing in a h omebrew game that allows people to pull characters and things from other systems (we have a Forgotten realms character, a modified dark sun character, two standard world characters and then there is me) I am playing a warforged psycicwarrior2/artificer7/pryokenetisist3 :) he has a triple wand sheath that he stores two wands of magic missle (7th caster level) and one wand of fireball (8th caster level) with wand master both those get +2 caster levels to be maxed out for their respective spells. And he fires them out of his arm useing metamagic infusions to make them maximixed, twinned, and explosive (can't remember the name of the last metamagic feat, its the one that knocks ememies out of the blast area) :D his standard response to battle is to open up with a twinned maxmized explosive fireball to scatter enemy formations, and then if there is something stubborn hit it with a maximized twinned magic missle. If there is just clean up or minions scattered about he loades into them with fireblasts as per the pryokenetisist ability. If something does manage to get close they are in for a very large shock... he crafted himself a +2 brilant energy sword as an embedded warforged compenent (modified to have the fast draw quality +4000gp) which combined with his weapon afire ability makes that a +2 flaming brilant energy blade, his two psychic warrior feats were psionic weapon and greater psionic weapon, and he remains focused unless otherwize stated. if anything does manage to get close he just slashes it in half with his plasma sword and then recharges the blade and goes back to blasting away with his arm cannon. combined with a few other little tricks (metamagic infusion / persistant spell / eternal wand being the most feared  ) he is a formidable powerhouse thats customizable enough to be able to deal with most situations with a little prep time. It really helps one of the other players is an obsessive compuslsive diviner who wants to know just about every detail of our foes before we start. As the warforged who doesn't sleep i am the only other member of the party that can tolerate standing and listining to his "mission breifings" including such wonderful details of what the targets eat for breakfast, what they have in the bottom of their sock drawers, that the orc guarding the door second from the left in the east coridor (day shift) stole half a deer haunch from the orc working partol in the north east coridor... no joke, those were included in last nights briefing. And based on what the dinver reveals about the enemy weakness i can customize what kind of wands i want to load for the adventure, and what kind of spells i want to have up and running. (mostly working out what energy type to use and protect against) He plays an important role within the party... night guard, combat blaster / skirmisher, and "he who keeps the rest of the party from tearing the diviner apart" a great deal of my character was modled after Zero from the megaman sage, and Data from Startrek TNG, so mabey he is a ripoff idea, but he is still a damn fine cyborg. |
| WarColonel02-25-06, 01:03 PM | My favorite character ever. Llwaran Kirunin, elven archer. I started out level one and brought him all the way to twenty. In fact, his class breakdown was based upon the campaign: started as a rogue levels 1-4, and gain a ring of spider climb, boots of elven kind, and a broken ring of greater invisibility 6 uses a day. Through turmoil and death, the party of six eventually lost all but one of the tanks of the group. Llwaran began studying the arts of war (fighter levels 5-10), specializing in the longbow. Within the campaign, he was hired by a king to train his archers and assassians (order of the bow levels 11-20). He was commander-in-chief of the kings entire forces. He had a companion named Kolokotrone, and elven sorcer/mindbender. They were as close as brothers. In fact, they were each other's best man for marriages (we rollplayed them out; mine ended up being interrupted by demons, an ongoing theme). Eventually, we basically ruled from behind a figure-head over an empire we helped forge. But the best thing about that character was his death, reposted from the "heroic and Unforgettable deaths" forum: In a campaign where our group of five went from level 1-20, my friend (Kolokotrone - CN Elf sorc/mind bender) and I (Llwaran Kirunin - CG Elf rogue/fighter/Order of the Bow) eventually became the advisors to the king we recieved most of our quests from. We also had families, a wife for Kolo, a son and daughter for myself (my wife had died previously, very touching). Well, through bad plays from the king, we had dealings with demons/devils that continusously went bad. Eventually, we believed we finally finished with them and were having a knighting ceremony for a newer member of the group when two dozen balors show up. I and Kolo, being level 20, can easily escape, though we would leave the kingdom in runes. Instead I tell him to get my children out of harms way and then procede to put as many arrows into these beasts as possiable. Three are killed in the first few rounds of combat, though I and the king are the only ones left alive with two other dead PC's. I realize there is a dimension door spell matrix (custom made thanks to Kolo) within the main throne room. It teleports anything not bolted down to another plane. I just cannot use it because it requires activation in the form of an arcane mark. As I am trying to work this out, Kolo reapears. I tell him that it is time to use 'Plan B', our code for activation. While he is holding off the balors, I pick up the king and toss him out the door. Kolo activates the field, and we are set to the city of Dis. Because of our magic items, we aren't going down without a fight. We are able to lure the balors throughout the streets of Dis, taking them out in pairs and solo. Finally, I am wounded to -1, but can act thanks to Diehard. I barely recover enough when I see Kolo literally disembowled, decapitated and quartered by the remaining group of five balors. Seeing as now I have no way to get home and my closest friend was killed by these demons, i quickly pick up Kolo's staff of power and staff of the magi (we got around) and hold them high above my head. The beasts stop and I deliver my last lines. "F--- off, this one's gonna hurt." Not a single balor survived. It was worth four years just to be able to tell some demons to f--- off. |
