Hmmm... Well, I'm playing a human binder, and by a stroke of luck I rolled the maximum possible starting gold (200 GP).

The thing is, though, I'm not sure what to buy with it. I mean, I COULD spend all my money on tindertwigs and ten-foot-poles that I probably won't use often, if ever. But far more important to me is weapons and armor, and other things of that stripe. I'll save a little gold for that other stuff once I've got the basics sorted out.

The default binder is set to equip light armor and all simple weapons. I don't think I'll be taking and armor/weapon/shield proficiencies, though: all I have to do is bind the right vestiges, and I can equip and use more or less anything I want. Yes, exotic weapons too. And that's just the problem. I can use ANYTHING, but obviously I can't buy everything.

So, to be as prepared as possible, I'd like to buy maybe five or six different weapons, and a suit of light armor and of medium armor... What would be the most effective/economical way to spend my money?

I recommend the various kits in the PH. Since you abilities and party role can and will shift from day to day, prepare for that by buying the tools of multiple trades.

Hmm... Well, yeah, with Naberius' skills and things like that, I COULD use such kits... Okay, that's a start. Anything else?

Maybe a longbow, if you plan to bind Laraje a lot...

Uh-huh. Okay... How's this list look?

Longbow-75
Shortsword-10 (85)
Lance-10 (95)
Heavy Mace-12 (107)
Longspear?-5 (112)

Studded Leather-25 (137)
Heavy Wooden Shield-9 (146)
Thieve's Tools-30 (176)

I'd buy a healer's kit, but that'd cost me 50 GP... So that leaves me 24 for miscellaneous stuff...
