Just a quick confirmation Question.
Is a Bonded Summoner's Elemental Companion affected by their Master's Familiar Feats eg. Bonded Familiar, Combat Familiar, Spell-Linked Familiar, etc...
If not is it affected by Animal Companion Feats eg. Companion Spellbond, etc...

I would say not to either, but just want to be certain.
If the answer is no to both, are there any Feats that are usable with an Elemental Companion (or other similar Companion)?

Since the elemental companion "replaces" the Bonded Summoner's familiar, I think it is safe to rule that it can count as his familiar for the purposes of those feats, especially since it can do all of the relevant stuff that a familiar is able to do (deliver and share spells, empathic link and so on).

On that same note, I would not allow animal companion-related feats to affect the elemental companion, since it never was an animal companion.

Another DM may choose to rule otherwise, however, and that is up to them to decide.

Thanks for the reply.
Any more input on the subject anyone? A Moderator maybe :D

Officially there is a heavy leaning towards the companion being unable to benefit from those feats because it is an elemental comanion that replaces the familiar itself. You do not actually lose your Familiar Class ability such as if you had taken an Unearthed Arcana spellcasting varient, you simply have your familiar replaced by a different entity entirely, with its own seperate ability progression.

However, because the Bonded Summoner has terrible caster level progression and terrible BAB you can make a very good case for using those Familiar Feats, and indeed the Familiar Enhancing spells found in various splat-books. You can end up making quite a monsterous elemental, especially an Air Elemental.

Infact, it's almost a shame just how superior the Air Elemental is to all the other elementals for adventuring purposes, mechanically speaking. In any case, a Moderator isn't going to make a response here. You'd be better off posing your question to the Customer Service section of the Wizards Website.
