DM brought up a random dungeon where 3 of 5 charactars were killed. Two got away. My half gold dragon/ Elf was charmed and brought into a room by a brass dragon.

Dragons love to talk and so i am stuck there till the brass dragon gets satisfied with talking.. which is 1100 years!!!

I need advice on a way to get out of this charm and get away. Or should I not bother and just make another charactar?

Need help.

Uhm, you are going to need to describe in detail what's going on.

What did you fight in the dungeon? why did you die? Is this part of a greater campaign? will the other characters be ressurected? What is your character's class, stats, ability scores, feats, etc.?

Brass Dragons get Suggestion, and have a particular caster level and generally aren't epic level. you get a will save to not fall under the Suggestion. And suggestion doesn't permanantly charm you anyway.

Read up on brass dragons and suggestion:

Charm does not last indefinitely, and even Brass dragons have to breath ...

Another aspect is that Brass Dragons are still good with a capital G. Which indicates a respect for life and dignity. He might chat up your character for a week, a month, even a year if you were interesting enough (repeat: interesting. Brass like to converse, not just talk at things). But no creature with a good alignment is going to keep a creature effectively prisoner through mental enchantments to converse with it until it dies of old age. Neutral creatures might, but a good creature would not.

Just my two coppers.

Two things...

1) adding the half-dragon template changes your creature type to "Dragon." That makes you an invalid target for the charm person spell (if that's what was used).

2) Remember that charm person doesn't make you a mindless slave of the caster. All it does is make you treat the caster as a really good friend.

You are not under his complete and total control. For instance, a man loves his children completely, but still has to leave the house and go to work whether they want him to stay home with them or not. He still does the things he needs to do.

Charm Person does not equal Dominate Person.

Dragon templet adds Dragon subtype so you would be immune to mind afflicting spells, as per the talking well they are right about a brass dragon, but its only 1 step better tword your initial reaction to him, so even if you were hostile you might still talk but it wont be for 100 years because the dragon will tire, they do talk to other brass dragons that long but only because they have a much broader view and more experiances then a puny dwarft might have "puny being how most dragons view other creatures".

Rather than arguing the situation (let's roll with it that your character is charmed as your DM has indicated), let's look at your options.

You can still communicate with the dragon. Look for ways to use that to your advantage. Perhaps agree with the dragon, and then subtlely remind the dragon of how said thing/things (Subject A) he is ranting about are impaired by ____ (Subject B), and that you would like to try to thwart Subject B but that you would need his assistance or at least advice on how to accomplish it. Appeal to the dragon's lusts for wealth or fame and how you can help him achieve more of those things by "aiding you" (aka letting you leave).

In short, try to roleplay out of the situation (or perhaps even into a better one) rather than arguing game mechanics with your DM. It will undoubtedly be more fun, and most likely more productive.

From what I've read, it seems like your DM is just disregarding how a Brass Dragon thinks and acts. Not only are Brass Dragons good, but they are also chaotic. Given this information it would be completely against said dragons moral code to kidnap you like this and hold you prisoner. While he might love to have a conversation with you, it's because he wants to learn about how you view things and what you think, not so that he can just talk at you.

Or this could just be his way of killing off your character.

The dragon type doesn't make you immune to mind-affecting spells; just sleep and paralyzation effects.

As stated by others you are just it's friend. If your friend told you to spend your entire life talking to him, forgoing all other activities you would want to do... would you? No.

Sure, you may come by the dragon's lair to talk when you have time, and maybe even take time out of the day to do so, but you wouldn't need to.

Not to mention, Charm and domination duration effects never truely matter in the scheme of things if you constantly see that person. When the spell is about to expire, you should have another prepared, and you'll continue the effect. No biggy.
