Calen 02-27-08, 10:42 PM	So in a daring attempt to end my lurker ways I come to this board asking for advice on a certain conundrum. I also posted this in the character development board, but am placing it here as I feel that, A) It fits, and B) I'll get more varied answers. Over the past weekend we met for DnD, and in typical fashion managed to derail the entire planned quest... only this time it took us about one decision, and a half hour. This decision lead to myself, and two of the four gathered characters dead. Luckily the third had a one time vial of true resurrection on him. He of course used it on our only player who could raise the others, our artificer. Unfortunately for us this lead to the only resurrection he had on him being cast on us... Reincarnation. And so now our Dwarf is a short fat human, and Calen finds himself a female gray elf, and unfortunately for him (as far as these campaigns are concerned) a rather attractive one at that. My question to all of you is this how can I play this up fully, without hogging the spotlight, or overall annoying the other players. I've already decided he's going through a rather major identity crisis, but I was wondering what other ideas would spring up from the brilliant minds of this forum. Thank you all, Calen.

Welcome to being a productive member of forum society :P Only you can avoid being a spotlight hog...none of our suggestions here will make you one or keep you from being one. I recommend keeping any "halfling" quirks your PC may have (accent, habits, etc), thus creating a gray elf who acts like a halfling...instead of being all flighty and mystical and nature-loving (elf stereotypes), you might be sensible, orderly and food-loving (halfling stereotypes). For extra effect, use a falsetto voice combined with any "halfling-isms"...use with caution, though as weird voices can be extremely irritating. Keep hanging out with halflings when possible, and when elves approach you, act like they're nuts at first ("Why in the Hells would I...oh, right.") If elf men give you trouble, give 'em a poke in the eye to learn 'em better. If your attractiveness keeps being problematic, take steps to make yourself less attractive...halflings are more pragmatic than elves, and could probably stand rolling around in the dirt for a bit if it kept unwanted attention at bay. Demand to know whether the inns have halfling-size rooms. Order the classic halfling foods ("None of that fruity elf stuff...some good brown ale!"). If your PC is the type to do it, hit on attractive halfling girls (this probably won't last long). Be friendly with dwarves and act confused when they give you funny looks. Ultimately, you'll have to decide whether Calen becomes content as a female elf (with rather odd habits) or quests to find a way to change back to his old self. Good luck...sounds like quite an interesting RP'ing experience.
