Celrik, the Half-Red [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-11-07, 04:18 PM In an upcoming game I will be running two characters, one being a druid of soem sort, and Celrik who is a sorcerer. In his history his mother was one of the slaves taken by his father when he overtook a city, and ever since Celrik is out to route Red Dragons and their spawn where they are oppressing the locals, but he knows that due to his heritage people will only see him just as a red dragon mutt...not a protector. To fix that he will be using the Softhand Gloves presented in RoD, and acting as if his breath weapon is a spell.

Now since he will be using the gloves to disguise himself does that prevents him from being Lawful Good, due to that he is "lying" and not showing his true self in hopes of preventing unwanted attention and strife towards the group.

Lawful Good doesn't imply that you can't lie at all; it means you do things in an orderly manor and have respect for the decency of all human beings.

Unless the Half Red Dragon is a Paladin, I can easily see a Lawful Good character lying so as not to cause trouble.

HE knows he isn't evil, but everyone else doesn't. It would almost be his duty to do this depending on his backstory, he wouldn't want to have to harm anyone to protect himself.

08-11-07, 05:22 PM Well his backstory is that his mother escaped his dragon father when an opposing dragon in the region tried to lay claim. His mom rasied him in a small village just on the outskirts on Red territory and of course developed a racisim towards any that shared Red blood. So he spent most of his life trying to hide his heritage to escape these "slings & arrows".

Also the game he and the other three characters will be apart of is a "Great Game" theme campaign and the dragon they work for is a Gold or Silver and he hopes to have the dragon perform the ritual to change his heritage, and in the world we play in such a ritual is rare and often refused by the performing dragon.

08-11-07, 06:42 PM I'm not seeing anything particularly Lawful about him, from his backstory. Think about it:

--He's fighting authority. Evil authority, the sort even a paladin would work against; but authority nonetheless.
--He wants to protect the "oppressed". That means he's into individual rights, something that CG people are really big on.
--He wants to hide his identity.

I'm seeing a CG freedom fighter here. Definitely Good, but I'm not seeing any Law...

If you want him to be Lawful, add:
1. An annoyance with the red dragons, in part, because they are not the legitimate kings of the region
2. A methodical, disciplined way of life
3. A reliance on honor and duty
4. A tendency to live by rules, either unspoken or explicit in the form of a code of honor

A Lawful guy could hide his dragon blood, though--especially if it's because he's ashamed he shares a bloodline with usurpers and oppressors.

08-11-07, 07:23 PM well the only reason for him trying to be lawful is to better appeal to a Silver or Gold dragon in hopes for they to perform the Rite of Draconic Affinity, but guess I can work him CG.
