The campaign I am playing in is with a LN monk, a NE rouge, a CN guy with a custom race and a custom class (blooded, and I cant rememeber the class), a CN fighter and me. A CG cleric. We killed a wyrmling white dragon, and now we have a dead white dragon. I want to put the scales on my shield, and the blooded guy wants to raise the rest of it as a undead pet (named fletcher  ). The three problems I have are:

1. Am I allowed (or even obliged) to kill the NE rouge and the LN monk?
2. Will sticking the scales on do anything besides look cool?
3. Should I allow "Fletcher" to be raised in my presence? If not, should I allow him to be raised at all?

your not obliged to kill them, your character can find another wayto deal with the situation even if its just leaving the group and you makinga new character that better fits the party harmony. Pesonally i would stress That I(my char) REALLY doesnt like the idea of an undead dragon being in the party on moral grounds, if after everyone has their say the group is in favor of the raising my cleric would leave the guys to their much deserved descent into evil and id pull out my lawful evil black gaurd and lead the party in a glorious quest of ruin and destruction across the face of the planet, then when i didnt need them any more...........nevermind. My advice try to work it out in character but dont start a party war its ussually a bad thing. Unless your into that kinda thing I know my current group kills each other over sneezing wrong but we are having fun..........not accomplishing much though.

At best, sticking dragon scales on a shield would give it +1 to armor class. Maybe it'd gain a bit of cold resistance, too. Armor made out of dragon scales counts as non-metal for druid purposes, but grafting the stuff on isn't nearly as effective. DM ruling, I'm afraid :)

Ok then, what checks would be involved?

Your party sounds terrible. What a horrible mishmash of alignments and i see at least one chaotic neutral in there. It`s a wonder you ever agree on anything. Your gm needs a slap for allowing such a travesty.

As to raising the beast, well, tricky. I`m a necromantic cleric (neutral) and i managed to come to an agreement with our exalted monk about animating skeletons. It is possible to have raised beasts in a party of otherwise goodly folk, so long as you have a strong rationale behind it. This is helped by having a neutral death god.

If he wants to name the beast, then that goes against him. One of my justifications was always that my undead were mindless machines and thus extensions of my will and alignment (neutral) so long as i controlled them. They only became evil if uncontrolled (like leaving a campfire to spread out of control). Likewise, by seeing them as mindless i dont get attached to them, which means i can smash them up once their task is done, thus going with the "circle of life" approach.

If you name an undead, then you are basically trying to create a permanent unliving thing rather than a tool and thats a lot more dubious. Giving it a silly name is also frivolous and a way of flaunting the power of death, a bad thing all round.

Still, in your party its all a moot point. You have vastly conflictual alignments to the point where things like this will come up all the time. Why worry about undead when half the party will justify murdering the local villagers to steal their cash?
