HAHA!

92 on the normal Chart.

I'm a kobolt! Heh.

Any suggestions what to do with my now shorter self?
Perhaps take up religon.

9 Rogue/2 Shadow Dancing Kobolt.
12 Str
21 Dex (WOW!)
14 Con
13 Int
14 wis (4 of it from items)
16 Cha

Well I guess some good came from this. All my curses have now been lifted. Ah the life as the party trap smith...

Orginal:

So my rogue bit the dust. Bleh. He’s had a good run. I wouldn’t mind bring in a new character I was actually thinking along the lines of Kobolt, but then my party Speaks to me from beyond my grave and asks if I want to be resurrected. They convince me that I should get my character rezzed but through which means is still up to me, normal resurrection or Reincarnation!

The reincarnation sounds like a wonderful idea, RP-Wise, Stat-Wise and just generally fun. Although if I end of a half-Orc I think I’ll end up having him leave… I just don’t like orcs, what can I say? (Personal preference). If I end up a Dwarf I do believe my character with a deep seething hatred for dwarfs will develop some sort of psychosis and the –2 on dex will make 4 of my feat unusable.

SO baring the 20% chance of end of with 2-3 things I don’t like I’m completely open to the other possibilities, including the 1% chance to be a lizard folk or “Other” (Oooh “Other” the very sounds sends shivers down my spine.)

Long and Short of it:
Do you think I should Reincarnate or the normal resurrection or do you (My fellow adventurers) Suggest something else.

Thank you in advance for the input

I think it would be unlikely for most characters to choose to be reincarnated (unless there was some religious reason - like they were a druid or something). I would go with Resurection.

But reincarnation does sound like fun. Perhaps you could talk to the DM about it and fiddle the tables a bit so you don't end up a dwarf or half-orc?

Reincarnation tends to be the more common choice in my games. It costs the group a lot less making other players more willing to do it. Plus true reincarnation costs about as much as a normal raise dead without the level loss (at least the masters of the wild version did) provided you can find a 17th level druid (as common as clerics of equal level by the RAW) who is willing to spend 1,000 XP in exchange for 5,000gp that is.

If you care about your characters too much, Reincarnation is a good way to stuff them right up, and make them unroleplayable. "I was an Elf, but now I'm a Bugbear." or something. Can you play that? It's just too wierd for me.

I love reincarnation, but I do not use the standard list. My list includes many other races and creatures. It also includes sub-races, ie drow and such. Much fun to be had by all.

Orc or Dwarf are pretty bad but I play 3.0 and coming back as cat would be worse.

Dwarves don't have a Dex penalty, they have a Cha penalty.

They can make decent enough rogues. The reduced move speed stinks, but you'll have that with any of the "short" races.

in our campains we always have some one (me) save up some money to bring back players for a small monthy fee and we have a wild listto be reincarnated from the lowest the ever dreaded toad to the mighty grey render

Would anyone have these mythic “better Reincarnation” tables? Or direct me to the nearest crossroads that may or may not find them?

Reincarnate
Transmutation
Level: Drd 4
Components: V, S, M, DF
Casting Time: 10 minutes
Range: Touch
Target: Dead creature touched
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: None; see text
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)

With this spell, you bring back a dead creature in another body, provided that its death occurred no more than one week before the casting of the spell and the subject’s soul is free and willing to return. If the subject’s soul is not willing to return, the spell does not work; therefore, a subject that wants to return receives no saving throw.

100 Other ? ? ?

Since the dead creature is returning in a new body, all physical ills and afflictions are repaired. The condition of the remains is not a factor. So long as some small portion of the creature’s body still exists, it can be reincarnated, but the portion receiving the spell must have been part of the creature’s body at the time of death. The magic of the spell creates an entirely new young adult body for the soul to inhabit from the natural elements at hand. This process takes 1 hour to complete. When the body is ready, the subject is reincarnated.

A reincarnated creature recalls the majority of its former life and form. It retains any class abilities, feats, or skill ranks it formerly possessed. Its class, base attack bonus, base save bonuses, and hit points are unchanged. Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution scores depend partly on the new body. First eliminate the subject’s racial adjustments (since it is no longer of his previous race) and then apply the adjustments found below to its remaining ability scores. The subject’s level (or Hit Dice) is reduced by 1. If the subject was 1st level, its new Constitution score is reduced by 2. (If this reduction would put its Con at 0 or lower, it can’t be reincarnated). This level/HD loss or Constitution loss cannot be repaired by any means.

It’s possible for the change in the subject’s ability scores to make it difficult for it to pursue its previous character class. If this is the case, the subject is well advised to become a multiclass character.

For a humanoid creature, the new incarnation is determined using the following table. For nonhumanoid creatures, a similar table of creatures of the same type should be created.

A creature that has been turned into an undead creature or killed by a death effect can’t be returned to life by this spell. Constructs, elementals, outsiders, and undead creatures can’t be reincarnated. The spell cannot bring back a creature who has died of old age.

The reincarnated creature gains all abilities associated with its new form, including forms of movement and speeds, natural armor, natural attacks, extraordinary abilities, and the like, but it doesn’t automatically speak the language of the new form.

A wish or a miracle spell can restore a reincarnated character to his or her original form.
Material Component

Rare oils and unguents worth a total of least 1,000 gp, spread over the remains.

Incidentally, this spell once turned my Charisma 24 Paladin into a Bugbear. Super physical stats and natural armor with no racial hit dice or social stat penalty? Yes, thank you very much.

Ooooh don't tempt me with such outlandish ideas Sulaco. I'm liable to do so!

Since someone else would say it if I didn't:

Pun-pun.

Seriously though, I freaking love Reincarnation. Although I don't like the tables, so far when a player has decided to use it they have opted this variant rule where I choose the race and so on and don't tell them until the spell is complete.

They know I'm lenient enough to return them to something similar and not character-ruining, but I still throw the occasional left-field thing in there. First character who tried it for kicks started out as one of a group of races of elemental-affiliated humanoids on this campaign world - a shadow one, to be exact - and came back as an air version. Of the opposite gender.

"What in the bloody hell, I'VE GOT ****!"

Your AC is definately your strong point. Between uncanny dodge, small size, huge dex and +1 natural armor, be sure to keep that AC in the mid 20's.

Your shadow walk/small size combination is going to give you some brilliant advantages as well.

Example:
Slip into horribly tight quarters, shadow walk into a different part of the room and hide in plain sight. As your opponent(s) is(/are) trying to squeeze through after you, stealthily move in and sneak attack +5d6 against squeezing (-4 penalty to AC, flat-footed due to not seeing you) opponents.

If you can keep them in the tight quarters, they will also have a -4 penalty to attack you, so your high AC pays off.

Invest in potions of Reduce Person. This will give you the most advantages related to size, as you'll be able to move comfortably through areas only 2-1/2 ft wide and sqeeze through 1ft wide spaces. The additional +1 to hit and AC also sometimes outweighs the slight reduction in damage you'll be causing.
