| Blunderbust01-13-08, 10:01 PM | Had a level 12 CN warmage. Love her, shes crazy! Last game session she got a crown shes been wanting and it turned out to be a helm of opposite alignment . Now my crazy mage is lawful neutral. I really don't want to stop playing her but I don't do lawful well. How can I twist this to my benefit and keep having a great time with my crazy fire mage? Thanks for the help! |
| Jo_Pistachio01-13-08, 10:26 PM | Do essentially the same things for different reasons. "This house is exactly 5 milimeters above regulation. *Nuked*" "Your vassal is incorrectly parked. *Nuked*" "Regional ordinance B stipulates that all dank caves must be mold free. *Nuked*" Basically, buy a big book on the law, and blow up anything that violates minor infractions. The DM will likely give in and remove the helm. If the DM points out that you are breaking laws to do this, point out that inevitables are psycho murderurs, and despite that, they are the personification of lawful. Obviously, lawful creatures can break mere mortal laws in the pursuit of their enforcement. Basically, have a written, lawful reason as to why you are blowing things up, and stick to those flimsy rationalizations like a winning lotto ticket. |
| Blunderbust01-13-08, 10:33 PM | Nice, Thanks Jo!!! My character also has a rod of wonder, absolute favorite item I use it constantly. How could I make that lawful? |
| Jo_Pistachio01-13-08, 10:42 PM | Say to your DM "I wish to find the precise probabilities that this rod operates on, and will be tabulating its affects. It operates on chance, but I wish to know the likelihood of any individual result that can occur from this rod. However, as that would be wantonly wasteful, I shall only do so when it is fitting. To properly determine the likelihood of any result, I shall need more rods of wonder." |
| Skrimshaw01-18-08, 05:33 PM | I love it! I know there is a feat in BOED that makes a spell not harm good creatures.. Is there a similar Feat for Law? What a great way to Nuke away! "If they are lawful in gawds sight, they shall not be burned!" |
| I_roll_ones01-18-08, 09:34 PM | Speaking of inevitable...Mimic them and kill all chaotic creatures, and restore order. Peasant uprising? They are disturbing the natural order of the kingdom, and must be destroyed. Anything that disobeys the law should be nuked. And remember, YOU get to backstab, lie, cheat and ignore allies, just like an inevitable! Obey the law or PERISH! Got a handy detect chaos on you? Or stroll up to a CG church and light it on fire. Let the chaotic fools fear the warth of order, and obey or die in the flames...Uh, that might be a tad LE, actually. Still, if you can find a CN church, blow it up, but it might make issues for your CN person if she reverts back. And if you cannot find a spell that doesn't harm lawful creatures, use the fat from BoED anyway. Say that your law code doesn't like it when you harm CG characters, but CN and CE are free game. Use detect chaos first. And then try to incacipate CG people and make them ineffectual, or attempt to discover what crimes they have committed. Just because you don't kill them doesn't make you can't make life difficult for them and turn them into the nearest LE religion. If you have detect chaos, and the setting obeys the one step rule, find a LE church and detect chaos on them until you find chaotic people and turn them in. Sure, you are helping evil, but LAWFULLY! Personally, I think chanigng a character's alignment like that to be rather mean. |
| Jo_Pistachio01-19-08, 12:51 AM | There is the spell dictum which does not work on lawful people, is based on your caster level, and can be gained through arcane disciple, law domain. Tac on arcane thesis, and your likely one shotting a lot of different things. |

Still, if you can find a CN church, blow it up, but it might make issues for your CN person if she reverts back. Yep, sounds a lot like Lawful Evil. This reminded me of one great Darth Vader motivator: "Lawful Evil: bringing order to the universe even if you have to choke the **** out of it." Anyway, for me lawful is best represented by respect for certain institutions, and devoted adherence to certain traditions and a certain code of honor. You don't need anything else to be lawful, really, so you have quite a bit of leeway. Actually, the helmet doesn't give you a complete mindwipe, so I'd say you should pick a code and traditions you tended to obey as CN anyway, and now uphold them zealously and consciously. Before, for example, you attacked the bandits because they p....d you off. Now you attack them to bring them to justice. Before you stole from a merchant because you wanted the money. Now you do it to punish them for their immoral behavior as parasites who fed off the workers and farmers of society! Remember, just because you're lawful doesn't mean you're law-abiding, and it does not mean you necessarily get along with other lawfuls. As others have said, you can do nearly the same things - and heck, to nearly the same people - but the important part is that it's for different reasons. Er, on the last one, talk to your DM. Some people don't interpret alignments the same way I do, after all, and I'm not the one who can decide to dock you XP or rain rocks on your character's head if they don't like you. Well, at times the party may think you're a nuissance, but you can do that being chaotic as well ;) . |
| Infernostrider01-19-08, 07:53 AM | you are neutral. you care little for rules being good or evil, so make up your own rules! neutral alignment is slightly chaotic by nature, to that extend |
| Skrimshaw02-06-08, 10:57 AM | You could start a New religion. The First Church of Cleansing Fire. Write down all the religions crazy commandments and follow them ..well, religiously. |
