After a long hiatus from my books I have been asked once to again pick up the mantle of "player". The problem is, I have no idea what the heck I'm going to come up with. Its a small group with only 2 other players and the DM. My friend who has also been asked to play has already been given the ok to play a Minataur Barbarian.

So I thought I'd try and come up with something to compliment him. Any suggestions?

The original minotaurus was locked in a labyrinth by Minos. The first thing that jumped into my head when I read that was "Claustrophobia" or fear of enclosed spaces.

Another small touch: The minos came from a union between a white bull sent by poseidon and Minos' wife. ((http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minotaurus)) as an extra touch your hair could be as white as that bull was...

I think you misread that. I'm not the one to play a minotaur. My friend is. I want to come up with a character concept that would plausibly hang out with, and compliment one.....

Indeed I have.

Well you could have helped the minotaur out of his labyrinth.

Indeed.......

However, I have no idea as to the origins of this minotaur within the context of this adventure (as there is no adventure as of yet).

Perhaps I can rephrase this.......what sort of character can you envision hanging out with a Minataur Barbarian?

I am terribly biased in my views but I think that to compliment a minotaur the following build would be really rather good:
Elven fighter/sorcerer/arcane archer
Take big punchy spells that you can imbue your arrows with and plenty of buffs to use on your minotaur buddy. Make sure to concentrate feat selection on ranged combat because this is were you have the most power and the best way to back up your friendly neighbourhood minotaur. If you wanted to add some extra flavour then consider taking ranks in ride along with a few mounted feats and become a horse archer riding a pegasus.
Hope this helps!

My first piece of advice is to find at least 2 more warm bodies.Do not create any character unless it has at least a d8.Hire a low level thief to check for traps and search him for items he's pocketed.Do a short run around your homebase for orcs or hobgoblins, kill them and sell half their armor, use the cash and armor you have left to beef up your party with mercs, the old cash in the empties strategy. One pc should be a single class cleric who has the magic domain so they can use arcane magic items. One pc should be a single class ranger with a favoured enemy who is often encountered in this campaign, the ranger should specialize in ranged attacks. The cleric needs to use magic items to make up for the lack of a wizard and a party kitty should be established to buy him wands ,scrolls etc.FIRST BUY A WAND OF CURE LIGHTS TO KEEP THE MINOTAUR ON HIS FEET!!!!

I have a question and a suggestion. My question is: Do you know what level the Minotaur is starting at and if it's being made using the Monster Class out of Savage Species?
My suggestion is to play an Elven Druid. Your character should then get along well with the Minotaur, as well as being able to cast Cure spells on him/her and Magic Fang, which will increase the Minotaur's attack and damage. (and they DO deal out LOTS of damage).
The reason I suggested Elven was that you'd then be proficient with bows, which Druid doesn't give you( I have no idea why). This way, you can stay behind the Minotaur and back him up as he charges through the enemies.
Just a suggestion. Hope it helps. :)

To answer "WhylniaPendragon"........No Savage species here, so that would put him at what ecl 9 ? Dont quote me on that Its been awhile.

As for the Druid suggestion, I'm not tto big on them. However the Elven Race is definitely one of my fav's, and I think that is a good place to start.

Going with the Arcane Archer idea....I think I have one already made somewhere in one of my myriad of note books. I'll have to fkip through it and see.

Thanks all...

Havent heard from this post in a while, how did the minotaur barbarian and elven archer work out?

Well, a Minotaur Barbarian is going to have:
1) High ECL
2) Excelent hits
3) Serious hitting power
So whatever character class you take will likely not need major melee combat power. Options then involve either spell-casters or stealth/missile based characters.

As for character race, I suggest a low ECL race if you are going to take a spell-caster to max your casting level. As a minotaur barbarian is likely maxing his combat power, look for something that maxes out in whatever field you choose.

Other than this, my best advice is to play something that you want to play, it isn't always best to take a character that will compliment the party if you do not want to play that option.

Thanks for all the input folks. It was decided that seeing as my compatriate was rather "exotic" that I too would follow suit. So I've gone with A Githzerai Ninja. Major stealth ability to offset the "cow's" overtness. here's to wilderness adventures! Should be fun.
