| DamonGalos06-03-07, 09:31 AM | Hey all. I'm starting a new game soon with a good group of guys. Unfortunately I'm not so great with D20 crunch yet as my experience is limited and the group has a few experienced people who have a tendency to want to be huge damage dealing twinks...which is fine it's just a game. However I really don't feel like being left behind so I thought I'd ask for some help. I was thinking I would be playing a sneaky character that uses a bit of trickery rather than just charging right in. Effective character level is 12 using the 25 pt standard buy thing. My first draft I came up with was a tiefling rogue/ninja. 9 rogue/2 ninja Str 9 Int 12 Wis 16 Dex 16 Con 12 Chr 12 I took weapon finesse, telling blow, combat reflexes, and an exotic weapon prof (elvish thinblade) For magic items I took the following: Devastation Gauntlets (damage booster) Witchlight Reservoir Crystal (damage booster) Bracers of the Blinding Strike (extra attack if Im flanking) Healing Belt (healing is nice) Chronocharm of Horizon Walker (mobility and an option to sneak in) Shiftweave (fun stuff only) Rings of Force (protection since I cant wear armor) +3 keen elvish thinblade (maximize telling blow. My DM allowed me to figure out the cost of that "water" property on the water whip and allowed me to buy it so disarm wont be as big an issue or quickdraw needed) Field Provisions Box (yum!) Ive got a little over 12,000 in gold to spend still for other items or to upgrade what I have. The idea basically was to have options for getting as much sneak attack opportunities as possible. Obviously I have the usual flanking stuff but if I'm solo on something I can use the ninja Ki power to turn invisible and whack stuff with SS/SA and I also have telling blow for the critical strikes from the rapier. When things get hairy I have a few boosters like the bracers, reservoir crystal and gauntlets. I've heard about some wierd thing with TWF/Wraithstrike/Prolonged Spell/Power Strike....I'm not sure if I can buy all that though (or if it hasnt been errataed yet). I could buy a few assassin levels I suppose but I might lose some rogue benefits in trade like uncanny dodge or what not. Anyway...I don't mind changing things up and cheese is ok since i know everyone else will be doing it. I know some things are "wasted" in many ways twink-wise like the exotic proficience for a thinblade when a rapier that I have an auto prof in would do just fine and being a human would net me another feat...but before I make changes I just want to see exactly how much more of a benefit I'd be getting. I don't need to do the most damage but if someone's consistantly pulling off 150 I'd like to be doing 110-120 and not feel useless in combats and always hiding. Thanks in advance. If you need any other info let me know. |

| Pyro_Azer06-03-07, 11:43 AM | How are you carrying all this and still unencumbered enough to use your ki power? |
| BugHunter06-03-07, 12:11 PM | The Devastation Gauntlets might be nice to increase damage but they have a big draw back; they only have three charges per day unless the DM is making a house rule on how they work. The same thing goes for the Healing Belt. Since you want to be able to do more damage I would suggest making a minor change to the thinblade try +2 keen, your choice of flaming, frost, shock, corrosive, or deadly precision (MIC pg 32) all of these have cost adjustment of +1 so the overall cost of the weapon doesn't change. |

Okay, nice list, but you can't wear guantlets AND bracers at the same time. |
| Bob Loblaw06-03-07, 02:09 PM | Okay, nice list, but you can't wear guantlets AND bracers at the same time. Gauntlets take up the hand slot and bracers take up the arm slot. You can wear both at the same time and benefit from them. |

Energy one from MIC is +2 bonus and he can have all four at once. He'll just have to pick which type when he uses it. Vanishing is also a good one, doesn't add a bonus, and it just cost an amount of gp. |

It's in the DMG page 214 and the Magic Item Compendium (which is on loan so I can't look it up). I found it in the SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/magicItemBasics.htm#magicItemsOnTheBody) . |
| loaba06-03-07, 05:50 PM | Crazy-style. Thanks for the link. |
| Droma06-03-07, 07:33 PM | If your trying to max sneak attack go for rogue 7/fighter 2/swordsage 2 and go human. Base stats of Str 14 Dex 15 (18 by lvl12) Con 12 Int 13 Wis 8 Cha 10 Feats weapon finesse combat reflexes TWF imp TWF vexing flanker telling blow +2 other feats with the swordsage lvls take cloak of desception for one of your manuevers and assasins stance. You now do a ton of sneak attack dice and get to go greater invis for 1 round once a combat go for a keen rapier and probably a short sword for offhand. Ive been using this build in my demonweb game and it destroys whatever we come across. |

| Ace_of_time06-04-07, 10:02 PM | WotC has a download that show whats what when it comes to wearing magic items. check it out. its with the character sheets. |
| WizO_Cat06-05-07, 11:29 PM | Moved to a more appropriate board. |
| archerpwr06-05-07, 11:39 PM | You really want some assassin in there for wraithstrike... |
