| Tippy10003-01-05, 05:23 PM | So, right now, I have a bunch of possible character concepts, and can't decide which one to do in the my next campaign. 1) The Crusader. He's a human, follower of Heironeus. Basically a more magic-oriented Paladin, uses the longsword and somesuch. Basically, only lives to further his deity's cause. His deity rewards his faith with magic, thus he is of the favoured soul class. 2) The Black Mage. He's a human, as well (I like humans). Very secretive, evoker, casts lots of explosive spells. Probably working through some intense psychological issues, very antisocial. Magic is the best way for him to exercise the destructive control he desires, so he's a Wizard (evoker) 3) The Mercenary. Human (big suprise) dual-wields axes, battle and hand. Originally from the desert, he fears nothing, aside from spiders, which he is intensely phobic of. Needles too, as well as lizards. He is only questing to raise enough money to quence his desire to some day captain his own militia, back in his own city. His love of combat gives him the Fighter class. Well, I'm still stuck between these, so any input would be wonderful. Also, if you had a concept you particularly liked, share it, so that we may all enjoy it. |
| Fluffy_Grandmother03-01-05, 05:40 PM | Wow. I would go with one or two, seeing as how I'm a magic freak, and three seems generic (Mercenary? Come on), except for phobia,s which is a cool idea. Is the BM good, neutral, or evil? What kinds of "psychological issues," are we dealing with here, besides anti socialness? |
| Tippy10003-01-05, 05:49 PM | By psychological issues I mean things like, problems with superiority, if someone makes him feel inferior, he'll try and blast them. He's not stupid though, if a gold great wyrm told him he was small, he wouldn't try and fireball him. Also, I was thinking if he gets rather annoyed he'll make someone melt. But, for as insanely violent as he is, he would never hurt an animal. In fact, if he saw the Captain of the town guard kicked a stray dog, he'd do a whole lot of exploding. Then, when he was laying dead, he would take the dog, and help him back to health, then continue on. I'm sure there'd be some reason in his history for this, but I wouldn't tell anyone else in the party, as he's not too social. And what really makes the whole mercenary concept is his multiple phobias, if it weren't for them, he'd be pretty boring. |
| Bonzai03-01-05, 05:50 PM | Heh, I love magic users too, so I'm biased. Otherwise, the questions are, do you know what kind of campaign it's going to be? Do you know what everyone else is? |
| Tippy10003-01-05, 05:54 PM | I honestly don't know what the rest of the party is yet, but I think my stuff works with almost any party, except for an all-evil party. And knowing my group, they probably won't go all-evil. |
| Fluffy_Grandmother03-01-05, 06:09 PM | After your description of the BM, I'd go with pally, simply because if you played in a campaign I DMed, you'd die quickly in proportion to the number of people killed. Seriously, he just sounds too...murderous. Unless you were shooting for evil, then go for it :D If I'm wrong here, then tell me. |
| Tippy10003-01-05, 06:28 PM | Well, I wouldn't just murder everyone, only in certain situations, not a freakish murder-happy maniac. Just a regular guy with an inability to manage anger, and lots of issues to work through. Fortunately, we still have to finish the final few sessions of our current campaign, so I have plenty of time. |
