| psionicninja200002-15-06, 10:10 PM | I have been invited to play in a local game using The World's Largest Dungeon and am trying to roll up a old character of mine in a new class. The problem is that my character, a human named Richard Redmane, is a bit of a mercenary/anti-hero. Hexblade and Warmage both look like very good classes for him to start with (Richard is smart, generally good with magic, and has a heck of a lot of angst) but I just cannot imagine Richard having a high charisma score (we are using a 34 point buy by the way.) To make a long story short (and avoid telling parts of his story that might get me banned,) Richard is a CN mercenary/loner with lousy people skills. He's not particularly bad-looking, he even managed to have a brief love affair (the tragic end of this affair is what drives him on in the games.) He just has had a loooong list of emotional scars that make him a really bad people person, doubly so if he is dealing with nobility (the source of most of his problems.) So, am I pigeon-holing the Charisma stat? Is it possible for me to have him with a high Char score and roleplay him the way I want to, as a moody loner? |

Charisma means force of personality. That excludes what others think of him. You can be a pompous jackass and still have a high charisma, you just gotta be clear and forceful that you are a pompous jackass. |
