Hi everyone, I'm new to community even though I've been playing D&D off & on now for almost as long as it's been around. Now someone may have asked this question before, but since the search function is not working yet, I'll ask it anyway. I have a player character that was created way back when and he comes out of retirement every so often. I've been looking around for information to convert him to v3.5 and I can't find anything. Can someone please let me know if this information is floating around in the community? I would really appreciate the help to the new kid in town.

TIA,

BDMERZ

Conversion from which eddition? This (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20030718a) is a conversion from 3.0 to 3.5. Any earlier, I don't know where to get the old 2nd ed to 3rd ed conversion pamphlet.

Why don't you post his particulars? I doubt it would be hard. Well, depending on the character...

The Character Generator Demo CD that shipped with the 3.0 Player's Handbook included a .PDF of the conversion guide from AD&D to 3.0. I'll dig out my CD in the morning and - assuming doing so does not violate the CoC - will post a link.

Essentially, 3.x leveled the experience tables so each class used the same XP progression. A bit of math is required to adjust your AD&D character's XP total to match the progression used in 3.x. It's actually pretty simple for single-class characters, but gets a bit more involved for multiclassed PCs since the multiclass rules in 3.x are totally different than previous editions. Once you've calculated your new character level, you simply apply the appropriate class features, assign your skill points, and pick your Feats. Magic users may need some minor adjustments to their known spells, as some spells were dropped and others renamed. Audible Glammer, for instance, was renamed Ghost Sound. The conversion document lists these changes as well.

Even though the document was written for converting AD&D to 3.0, enough of the core rules are the same that I think the process is still valid for a jump straight to 3.5.

I like to thank everyone who replied to my question so quickly. I did find what I was looking for at this link:

I forgot that the CD also has the same file on it as the one I found at the above link. Now I can bring back my 10th level Druid/10th level Wizard back to life and enjoy the game again. :D

Thanks again,
