Character Creation Software? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Folks:

Are there any third party (or official for that matter) software packages to create and maintain characters for the D&D 3.5 rules? It is hard to figure some of this new stuff out for old-timers.

You could use DMs Familiar to manage your character, unless you are DMing though then a huge proportion of the very excellent features will go wasted unfortunately.

11-17-05, 08:57 AM Here's a page where you can get the singing sheet. It is by far the best one out there. It is a PDF file that looks just like the character sheet in the PHB, but when you enter a number in, for example a STR of 17, it automically modifies all your to hit and skills for a 17 STR. You can also put in class levels and it tells you things like saves and skill points. It can be tricky to save, though. E-mail me if you have questions about it. Once you've done it once it is no big deal. It's the best.

I've got ya covered. Check out Redblade 3.5e (http://www.redblade.org/).

It's not perfect... far from it... but it has a TRUMENDOUS campain/rules customization feature. You can expand it's resources to include suplements, monster races, new classes, new spells, new domains, etc... as you desire, or run it as is. It dosen't freeze up either...

I love it. You should too.

Its an excel spreadsheet comes fairly high on the all singing, all dancing stakes - d20SRD complient and with a lot of customisation abilities - new races including monsterus ones (DM's if you ever wanted to stat up that red dragon, its just a dropdown list away), new classes etc...

It does psionics, though I can't give you any more details than that as i have never played a psionic character.

It is shareware though - 20 canadian dollars as the guy who writes it would actually like to eat. Not sure how that converts for you guys but in the UK i worked out that i spend more than that on my weekly sandwiches and frankly have never looked back since paying.

Well, turns out I was wrong. After obtaining and using PCGen for Java 2, I repent for my dismissal of it's greatness. It is a far superrior program, dispite occasional instability and inability to quickly switch sourcebooks, to Redblade, which dosen't have nearly the quantity or quality of Exo-Core source material.

I strongly agree, therefore with StormCrow42, and advise you use his link to obtain the program. Just remember to have Java set up and updated before using it. Good luck!

I use a pdf form (http://www.unc.edu/~murphy/mad_irishman/pub_dnd.html#3e_sheets_225) used made by Madirishman. Click on the file that says "3rd Edition Character Sheet Form 2.16." It applies ability bonuses in all necessary places. It's not perfect because you still have to input class information, but I like it. Saves the time of applying ability bonuses to all the skills and whatnot. If you have Acrobat Pro, you can save changes to it as separate files.
