Character Generators [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-23-04, 10:39 AM I'm looking for a good character generator tutorial to give to some friends of mine who are trying to get in the game. They've got the handbook but they're confused on how to get all the stats and saves, etc...

I was wondering if there are any good written tutorials or cgens that walk you through it step by step.

12-23-04, 11:10 AM This is a great one for 3.5. It needs to be adjusted for the use rope skill, but other than that it is just fine.

12-23-04, 11:28 AM Well, there is the thing at the very beginning of the Player's Handbook that walks you through the character creation process... it's really not that hard, especially if there's at least one experienced player to help them.

I would recommend against Redblade. Sure, you can make characters that way, but it's too full of errors to be useful. I would spend more time combing over a Redblade character sheet looking for mistakes than I would just writing up a character on my own.

Doesn't incorporate Improved Critical into weapon threat ranges.

For me, as soon as I see one error, that's it - the program's in the garbage bin for me, I won't go wasting time on an improperly edited and prematurely released piece of software, free or not.

I think I am going to use this to make my new NPC's from..

12-24-04, 12:54 PM Feriin I use a Javascript program that is done completely done through the "Net". Not quite that intuative for newbs but it is easy AND includes pretty much everything in the way of monsters, races and classes. Also there is a part where you can manually "do" the prestige class. You'll see.
Takes a while to load. Be patient.

12-24-04, 05:43 PM the best ive ever seen is in an excel format. u put in your statsthat you rolled, class, race, and u level up. everything else is taken care for you.
