| dmbronzedragonbill10-06-04, 02:34 PM | i've generated a 1st lvl character for a new/beginning campain. Note that i'm an experianced player and dm of the 3. rules and game settings. the class of my character is a cleric and the race is a dwarf. i've chosen the god of dwarves as my god of worship. the domains are earth and law. i would like to see role playing ideas for this character befor i start using him to give me a new perspective on role playing possabilities then another dwarf cleric. your comments will be liked in every form. if you need any other info on the character, ask and i'll poste what you ask for. |

He is a newly ordained acolyte who until recently was second in command at the local farming community. He's been raised with strict attention to numbers and productivity, thus his respect for order and law. His main focus throughout his training has been cultivating more productive ways to use the limited soil his rocky, mountainous home has available. Most of his spells would be earth based and rely on indirect action in battle. Of course he'd be weilding either a scythe to represent the harvest or perhaps a flail for threshing. Just an idea I've been kicking around. Hope you like it. |

Maybe he really wanted to be a craftsman or warrior? Or maybe a politician, determined to advance the cause of the church and his own position within it? |
| dmbronzedragonbill10-07-04, 08:39 AM | i like the idea, i think that i could play him off like a fryer with the ambitions to be in combat at any given time. first to fight and last to leave a losing battle. that was a good idea, anyone else have any ideas that they wouldn't minde sharing. i have one whole week till i need to be 100% shure of how i'm going to portray my dwarf cleric. |
| The Man from Uncle10-07-04, 08:57 AM | I do love playing clerics and i have been known to play a dwarf from time to time. Don't think i ever played a Dwarven cleric though. How about going with the subtle approach. You are so comfortable with your religion that you don't act that pious or keep bringing up 'What Morradin would want'. In fact at first glance you might just look like a Dwarven fighter. You don't force your opinions down others throats and play more of a listener than a preacher. But obviously you've got a heart of gold and you are still a very holy man. You are prepared to talk at length to anyone who wants to learn about your faith, but you let others who don't follow your path get on with their life. You are strong, brave and compassionate but not in anyway that would lead others to the conclusion that this is due to you being a cleric. In fact you might even surprise someone when you draw your holy symbol and turn undead instead of just wading in. On matters of faith however you are totally focused and utterly determined. Where in every other aspect of life you might be relaxed, when it comes to doing your religions work, you are an animal. |
| dmbronzedragonbill10-07-04, 10:45 AM | that is a verry interesting way to go about playing the clerick. i like it and i'm still wanting to see everyone elses sugestions. |
| dmbronzedragonbill10-11-04, 07:56 AM | can anyone give any suggestions about acceptible sacrafices to Moradin? i would like to know what is an acceptable sacrafice and what isn't. also i would want to know about any spacific ways that a cleric should use to get new converts into the religion. your responces are liked and useful to me. :D |
| Fiery_Fighter_Drake10-11-04, 08:26 AM | I have yet to play a dwarf or a cleric. Someday... Anyways, there isn't anything really specific about sacrifices to gods. In the case of Moradin, a simple answer would be to offer up your work to him? Going with the Friar idea (Cleric Farmer) you could learn how to craft items of agriculture and off them up to Moradin? Or maybe you could try offering jewels or stone-work (such as a scuplture of Moradin) to one of his temples. The latter would be a good story hook (i.e. Someone steals said statue/jewels and you go to meet the current members of the party and ask for aid. After the adventure, you aid them in return for aiding you and the temple). |
