| DemonsOfRazgriz12-11-04, 05:05 PM | My friend is creating this character with elemental attacks and well they are like spell like abillities. The thing about them is he is copying them from the PS2 game suikoden 3(not sure if any of you guys or girls have heard of this game) and the attacks are from runes, going from the basic rune to the true rune. Elements: Fire, Wind, Water, Earth, and Lightning. He is unsure of what to roll(type of dice EX. D12 or a D20) for the natural damage, and the elemental damage. The spell's vary in strength and would that necessairly mean change of dice or increase the number of rolls + the elemental damage, with the water rune some spells heal, while one spell temporarelleys negate's magic for a couple of turns. The earth rune has some defense spells. My friend asked the DM for some help but he was very criptic about it. If it's requested I will list the runes name and spells that go with each one. |

| DemonsOfRazgriz12-11-04, 07:26 PM | I meant what type of a dice to roll and how many times. Each rune spell is a level. Level 1 which is the weakest spell while level 7 is the strongest spell. Mabye an example will help. I will use the fire rune for my example. Level 1. Flaming arrows- A small cluster of arrows covered completly in fire about 3 but they act as one arrow and you just toss it at one enemy. EX. For damagge it's 1D12 + 4(The plus 4 is the elemental damage that is added on rolled by a D4) Level 2. Dancing flames- A small fissure opens up and fire is spewed from it and it can damage all allies and the sad part is all allies and yourself run a risk of getting burnt by the attack. EX. For damage it's 2D12 + 6(This is rolled by a D6). That's what, I ment about would the main dice-roll multiply and the same for the elemental damage, or at every level it is a different unique roll like my example. |

| DemonsOfRazgriz12-12-04, 11:49 AM | It's not the first time one my my friends or I have copied a character, weapon, armor, or, skill and used it in a game, we make sure when we design it we make sure it is fare and reasonable. With the runes we were going to have it be that it could be like that he first gets the level 1 rune spells, and after so many levels the next level is unlocked, or he receives them after a certain level and after a few levels he can sacrifice some of his experience to give to the one of the runes or split it between all 5 and if he wants to he can sacrifice the points of an entire level to give to the runes, so if he was level 15 and he gave up an entire level he would have once again level 14 stats and he would also lose any abilities he gained at level 15, well we could also create an idea for a new class if it's not already thought of in any D&D books. Call the class runeoligist and base it off of wizard stats if it is not already thought of. Were not stupid we won't give him such power without limitations and with the above paragraph. Weapon's, armor, and spell's, I can come up with name's and effect's but when it come's to rolling the stat's, I'm lost. That's why, I'm asking if, I type the name of the rune spell's could you please give me a hint on what dice to roll and if it's the same dice how many time's in a row and that includes the elemental damage. |
