| MerrikCale10-01-06, 09:52 PM | Our party: a human ranger, an air genasi ranger, moon elf bladesinger, moon elf sorceress, and dwarven warrior, might be adding a player. Curious as to opinions on the race/class that would complement this best. The player is not interested in multi-classing. |
| RellenMarn10-01-06, 10:23 PM | Human Druid/Cleric? Party healer and the extra feat is always appreciated. Plus Humans can get along with anyone, they don't always, but they can. Or maybe a Dwarf Cleric, you could call him Durg... Plus two Elves two Dwarves might balance things out nicely. Hope that helps! |
| Lord_Varos10-01-06, 11:29 PM | Your group has: (2) Wall of Meat (2) Stealth (1) Artillery (1) Talking Head Missing: (1) Expert (1) Healer So, try out a skillful Rogue whom specializes in traps and sneak attacking. Or, as stated by RellenMarn, go healer. Hell, you might even go Healer. |
| PhaedrusXY10-02-06, 01:49 AM | A kobold cleric (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=9571631&postcount=7). It could function as the group's divine caster and trapfinder. |

| Wayside10-03-06, 11:58 PM | They essentially are a divine caster focused solely on healing. Their spell list is almost enitrely healing, and they get a fairly wide array of abilities that help them heal without spells. And eventually even a unicorn companion. The class even goes as far as to give the healer the ability to give people new limbs once per day, and at 20th level a free true ressurection each week. The class also grants good saves to both will and fortitude. Things to look forward to at lower levels. A lot of healing spells, lay on hands, and the ability to remove conditions such as poison, paralysis, and fear. Things not so great about the class are its limited spell selection, poor base attack bonus, andonly light armor porficiency. |
| amethal10-04-06, 08:09 AM | I've never played a healer, or seen on played. However, on paper it looks pretty boring. In a standard campaign, a cleric and a rogue are both useful. If you expect wands of cure light / moderate wounds to be freely available, then the rangers can act as healers so that area would be covered. In my experience, there's no substitute for trapfinding, so maybe a rogue. The rogue needn't be particularly good at combat as that area is already covered, so maybe concentrate on social skills? However, the party looks ideal for trying out one of my (many) character concepts - a paladin who places more emphasis on wisdom than strength, and prefers spellcasting to melee. It would also cover the turning undead role. I'd like to try it with a Vow of Poverty. Of course not all players, DMs, parties or campaigns are suitable for paladins, and even fewer are suitable for a Vow of Poverty. |

In a FR setting, I would assume there would be a limit on selecting a deity. |
| Wayside10-04-06, 12:59 PM | Yes, the character must be good aligned to be a healer, and worships either a good diety or ideal. |
| MerrikCale10-04-06, 02:13 PM | Yes, the character must be good aligned to be a healer, and worships either a good diety or ideal. I would imagine most DMs would make it deity specific as well. In FR, it would make sense for say Ilamter and Kelemvor, but maybe not the Oghma or good clerics of Gond |
| Righter810-04-06, 02:38 PM | Not neccesarily, because the spells are not from a diety like a cleric. Its more like a ranger or druid than a cleric or paladin. The spells aren't prayed for, you pick X per day. I am playing a Healer in one game and I have Lurue for a deity because it fits my character concept. |
