| albinomonkeyking08-03-06, 12:04 AM | I'm having a very terrible time thinking up a class for a character im playing. The only things i know at this point is that i am a lythari. I had a backstory i liked but cant really think of how it can be put into a class form. The back story is that my father was a lythari and my mom was a regular elf, there were 2 kids my brother stayed with my father and i went with my mother. She taught me the ways of peace and to be happy with what you have while my brother was taught all about the ways of fighting with my father. My biggest problem with this character is that i feel ive played most kinds of characters that a lythari would be and am trying to think up anything new or interesting to do so if you have any good ideas please relay them to me. The last point i need to make is that the lythari thing is unnegotiable because so far the DM planned the story around me and the other PC being lythari. I also forgot to mention im a lvl 4 so you know what i have to work with. So my question is in my shoes what class/style of character would you make? |
| Feriin08-03-06, 12:13 AM | Monk with VoP feat |
| Shaggy_Shaggs08-03-06, 12:19 AM | Ways of peace, eh? Well, assuming you don't want to go with the BoED which gets banned on principle by some DMs, a negotiator style bard or rogue might work out well. |
| wizkid08-03-06, 12:24 AM | I'm thinking a cleric who uses nothing but healing and protection. |
| albinomonkeyking08-03-06, 12:30 AM | Im trying more or less to stay away from doing a caster because i just got done playing a caster. |
| Zheon08-03-06, 12:55 AM | i think you should play a monk. well rounded, the RP would be fitting, and you learn to fight with what youve got. your hands. |
| Dead_Karma08-03-06, 12:55 AM | i'd have to agree mostly with Feriin. a monk that wages peace, if your dm allows the goody-two shoes book. :D or a bard in the same vein |
| Wyrmul08-03-06, 05:04 AM | The monk "Hunter of Peace". Pop some ranks into heal to check to see if your opponent is getting, low on HP then switch to doing subdual damage. Or do subdual damage all the time. It doesn't cost you anything and most living, intelligent creatures are suceptable to it. Could set you up for a contemplative style PrC later if that is your thing. |
| BopLouie08-03-06, 03:45 PM | One problem I see is that so far you don't seem to really have any motivation to adventure. A man who knows the ways of peace and to be happy with what he has would sooner settle down and become a hermit than risk adventuring. |
| albinomonkeyking08-03-06, 05:54 PM | My motivation for travelling is that my brother is being played by a PC and hes going to need me to help him. |
| Zheon08-03-06, 10:51 PM | i second the idea of a monk that chooses to use subdual damage when possible. maybe you choose to help your brother by watching his back, but that does not mean that you have to kill all your adversaries. good idea with the heal ranks, then you can make sure theyre okay even if you have to use lethal damage. |
