draco1119 06-17-07, 04:40 AM	In the last session, my Paladin of Freedom picked up a dragon cohort, but I need to decide on a class for it. It's a wyrmling Purple Dragon that can start off as either LN or LG, has a decent STR and is primarily INT/WIS based. Ther other 3 stats are average. DM won't allow me to choose a Cleric (Favored Soul is allowed, however) or anything from PHB2. What class should I pick? No level dipping, also. Once the dragon's in a class, she has to stay in it for 5 levels. I'm thinking about Ranger/Wizard Fighter/Wizard (either of which will allow her to PrC as either a Spellsword or Eldritch Knight) or just a straight Ranger. Also, does anyone know if there are alternate rules for Multi-limbed Rangers (i. e. Multi-Attack instead of TWF as bonus feat, etc.)?
Drag0nUL 06-17-07, 06:08 AM	A gish would be quite hard to build with the restrictions placed on you. Most gishes use 1-level dip in a non spellcasting class(fighter/warblade usually) and you are forced to take 5 levels into such class which means a great loss of caster levels. IF I were you I would go for straight druid as the dragon's class(mechanical reasons only). or maybe druid/wizard/arcane hierophant if you want to expand the character's utility spellcasting.

DrMorganes 06-17-07, 11:53 AM	First up, on the topic of non-neutral druids. Important bits are in bold for fast reference. Ex-Druids A druid who ceases to revere nature, changes to a prohibited alignment, or teaches the Druidic language to a nondruid loses all spells and druid abilities (including her animal companion, but not including weapon, armor, and shield proficiencies). She cannot thereafter gain levels as a druid until she atones (see the atonement spell description). Next: More HD does not necessarily mean greater age - just a larger baby dragon. Finally: how 'bout rogue, scout, or bard?

There is nothing in the description of either Leadership or Dragon Cohort feats that state the cohort must have your alignment (just it can't be opposed on any of the axes).

As for the classes mentioned, Dex and Cha are nothing spectacular (11s in both, IIRC), so they're not really GOOD options. Low Charisma is also why I didn't choose Favored Soul. Scout is an interesting option, though. I'll have to look into it...
