| meshon04-07-07, 07:48 AM | I'm starting a two-player plus DM campaign soon and I'm trying to figure out what sort of character to play. The DM has told us that our two characters are partners in a brand new book-selling business (in Daggerford!) but hasn't given us any restrictions as to character classes or races. My business partner is umm... a half-orc Dragon Shaman. I'm looking for are ideas for a character that a) would work well as a book merchant and, b) be a good half of an adventuring duo. I was thinking of trying a Factotum (seems like a good fit for a dealer in esoteric tomes), but if there's any other ideas out there I'd love to hear them. Or if you have character story ideas independent of class, go for it. cheers, meshon |

Although, a Barbarian Librarian would definitely inspire you to be quiet. Bards would make excellant booksellers I think. |

I created a character like this for a brief stint in one of our Planescape campaigns, and my DM still uses her as a favorite NPC - she operates as a high-ranking Fated spy ("Darkwood's Diggers") and spends a lot of her time researching and hunting down powerful artifacts for her Factol. This character configuration is great because she becomes the ideal mystical spy/info-sniffer/walking archive; the perfect occupation for someone who deals in books - you never know what info might come your way, and knowledge is power! And with a half-orc Dragan Shaman as your partner, he can hopefully supply all the muscle you'll need. |
