| fishfinger07-15-07, 08:43 AM | hi all i just need a quick question what are the oposite classes for the following sorcerer dragon disple bard wizard druid cleric barbarian Ranger necromancer |
| Roog07-15-07, 09:22 AM | dragon disciple <=> dungeon master |
| Kuruk07-15-07, 09:22 AM | What do you mean exactly by opposite? Are you asking what class would be a counter to the other, like a rock<paper<scissors system? Because in that case each class doesn't have a set counter. Each class is inherently stronger and weaker overall and in certain areas than another class. If thats not what you mean, please clarify your question. |
| Einvaldurinn_mikli07-15-07, 09:53 AM | dragon disciple <=> dungeon master I lol'd. |
| fishfinger07-15-07, 11:31 AM | what i mean is. you have a barbarian all muscle no magic, the oposite for that class would be sorcerer right, fighter would be wizard, ranger = druid i guess etc? there examples i don't know if i'm getting them right or not if you can fill me in that would be great |
| Comus07-15-07, 11:40 AM | what i mean is. you have a barbarian all muscle no magic, the oposite for that class would be sorcerer right, fighter would be wizard, ranger = druid i guess etc? there examples i don't know if i'm getting them right or not if you can fill me in that would be great There aren't any opposites. It's like apples and oranges - an apple is different from an orange, but not the opposite. A Jaguar is different from a Pinto, but not the opposite. See what I mean? |
| Jagyr Ebonwood07-15-07, 11:43 AM | Sorry dude, but it doesn't work that way. No class is set as the "opposite" of any other. It's perfectly fine for you to decide that barbarians and sorcerers are opposites, but any conclusion you come to will be your own. There's no "official" answer for your question. Now, there are a few that come to mind. For example, the opposite of druid would probably be a blighter (a fallen druid), but that's a prestige class. Same thing with paladins/blackguards. Good clerics / Evil clerics might also work. |
| Jagyr Ebonwood07-15-07, 11:44 AM | A Jaguar is different from a Pinto, but not the opposite. See what I mean? Depends...bean or horse? |
| Comus07-15-07, 11:49 AM | Depends...bean or horse? Ford. |
| Jagyr Ebonwood07-15-07, 11:58 AM | Oh, wow...I didn't even realize until you said Ford, that a Jaguar and a Pinto are both cars. I assumed you meant animals... Now I feel all unmanly :weep: |
| Count Nerindil Van Seraph07-15-07, 12:04 PM | Oh, wow...I didn't even realize until you said Ford, that a Jaguar and a Pinto are both cars. I assumed you meant animals... Now I feel all unmanly Well, in your defense, large cats and horses are pretty different. And large cats and beans are really different.;) Yeah, there is no opposite to any given class. They are just to varied. Out of curiosity, why do you want to know? |
| Kamin_Majere07-15-07, 12:22 PM | what are the oposite classes for the following sorcerer = Crusader dragon disple = Warmage bard = Commaner wizard = Shugen druid = Class Variant Evoker cleric = Artificer barbarian = Marshal Ranger = Factotum necromancer (not a base class but i'll bite) = Hippie Now of course everything i just wrote is complete and utter bull ****, as there isnt an opposite for classes. They fill Niches and aren't something like a M:tG color wheel where every class has ally and enemy classes. Oh, wow...I didn't even realize until you said Ford, that a Jaguar and a Pinto are both cars. I assumed you meant animals... Now I feel all unmanly :weep: Its ok we all have those moments. |
| was_fired07-15-07, 03:09 PM | Well if you mean what beats each of these then I suppose: sorcerer: Wizard dragon disple: No clue bard: Any other spellcaster wizard: Artificer druid: Omnificer cleric: Cleric barbarian: bards Ranger: druids necromancer: clerics Of course given the nature of some D&D classes being stronger than other in general cleric, druid, or wizard is a valid answer for most of these questions. As most people pointed out though there is no thematic opposite to most any of the classes and when they do show up they tend to emerge from the class itself or a PrC that originates from the class. |
| Von_Harbringer07-15-07, 03:31 PM | hi all i just need a quick question what are the opposite classes for the following sorcerer dragon disciple bard wizard druid cleric barbarian Ranger necromancer sorcerer = Fighter/Occult Slayer (with mage slayer feats) dragon disciple = Dragon Slayers (see them as abominations) bard = cleric (silence spell) wizard = Barbarian druid = Blighter (anti-druid PrC) cleric = Depends on God; Paladin, Blackguard, Wizard, but most likely Cleric barbarian = Wizard Ranger = Rogue necromancer = Radiant Servant (PrC of Sun Cleric) |
| Alric07-16-07, 02:03 AM | He must be doing a game in another plane that is like bizarro world. So he needs the opposite classes of everyone so he can make their evil opposite personalities. |

| wrecan07-17-07, 09:59 AM | The opposite of every class is the Commoner. :) What's the opposite of someone who can cast spells? Someone who can't. What's the opposite of someone proficient in all weapons. Someone proficient in one. What's the opposite of someone with a lot of skill ranks? Someone with almost none. |
| zelf_gale07-17-07, 03:56 PM | Flipped magic/non-magic and law/chaos tendencies sorcerer = fighter wizard = barbarian barbarian = wizard Flipped by view of nature druid = blighter Flipped by view of undead necromancer = Radiant Servant of Pelor Flipped by view of deities cleric = Ur-priest Flipped randomly dragon disciple = illusionist bard = commoner |

| Jungingen07-18-07, 01:48 AM | Oh! Well in that case: sorcerer=sorcerer with goatee dragon disciple= dragon disciple with goatee bard= bard with goatee wizard=wizard with goatee druid=druid with goatee cleric=cleric with goatee barbarian= barbarian with goatee Ranger=ranger with goatee necromancer=necromancer without goatee I wonder why he didn't say so in the first place? I will save this for use in my next campaign. This will save hours of labor building and fleshing out NPCs. |
