What do you mean exactly by opposite? Are you asking what class would be a counter to the other, like a rock<paper<scissors system? Because in that case each class doesn't have a set counter. Each class is inherently stronger and weaker overall and in certain areas than another class.

If thats not what you mean, please clarify your question.

There aren't any opposites. It's like apples and oranges - an apple is different from an orange, but not the opposite. A Jaguar is different from a Pinto, but not the opposite. See what I mean?

Sorry dude, but it doesn't work that way. No class is set as the "opposite" of any other.

It's perfectly fine for you to decide that barbarians and sorcerers are opposites, but any conclusion you come to will be your own. There's no "official" answer for your question.

Now, there are a few that come to mind. For example, the opposite of druid would probably be a blighter (a fallen druid), but that's a prestige class.
Same thing with paladins/blackguards.

Good clerics / Evil clerics might also work.

Depends...bean or horse?

Oh, wow...I didn't even realize until you said Ford, that a Jaguar and a Pinto are both cars. I assumed you meant animals...

Now I feel all unmanly :weep:

Well, in your defense, large cats and horses are pretty different. And large cats and beans are really different.;)

Yeah, there is no opposite to any given class. They are just to varied.

Out of curiosity, why do you want to know?

what are the oposite classes for the following

sorcerer = Crusader
dragon disple = Warmage
bard = Commaner
wizard = Shugen
druid = Class Variant Evoker
cleric = Artificer
barbarian = Marshal
Ranger = Factotum
necromancer (not a base class but i'll bite) = Hippie

Now of course everything i just wrote is complete and utter bull ****, as there isnt an opposite for classes. They fill Niches and aren't something like a M:tG color wheel where every class has ally and enemy classes.

Oh, wow...I didn't even realize until you said Ford, that a Jaguar and a Pinto are both cars. I assumed you meant animals...

Its ok we all have those moments.

Well if you mean what beats each of these then I suppose:

sorcerer: Wizard
dragon disple: No clue
bard: Any other spellcaster
wizard: Artificer
druid: Omnificer
cleric: Cleric
barbarian: bards
Ranger: druids
necromancer: clerics

Of course given the nature of some D&D classes being stronger than other in general cleric, druid, or wizard is a valid answer for most of these questions. As most people pointed out though there is no thematic opposite to most any of the classes and when they do show up they tend to emerge from the class itself or a PrC that originates from the class.

He must be doing a game in another plane that is like bizarro world. So he needs the opposite classes of everyone so he can make their evil opposite personalities.

bard= bard with goatee
wizard=wizard with goatee
druid=druid with goatee
cleric=cleric with goatee
barbarian= barbarian with goatee
Ranger=ranger with goatee
necromancer=necromancer without goatee

Bard = a multiclass fighter/rogue/sorcerer who specializes in enchantments which, one eventually come to realize, is the same combination of abilities as your bardic counterpart, just more complicated

The opposite of every class is the Commoner. :)

What's the opposite of someone who can cast spells? Someone who can't.
What's the opposite of someone proficient in all weapons. Someone proficient in one.
What's the opposite of someone with a lot of skill ranks? Someone with almost none.

Flipped randomly

I will save this for use in my next campaign.

This will save hours of labor building and fleshing out NPCs.
