| Ithilorien08-20-04, 07:04 PM | By technical definition, Hexblades do not exist in Dragonlance as the core DL modules and novels never feature them in any way. In fact, I believe Complete Warrior came out long after the 3e Dragonlance setting. So in that light I could agree with your DM (after all, he has rule 0 on his side). I also believe, however, that Hexblades easilly fall under the category of using primal sorcery and would be perfectly acceptable for use in Fifth Age games. They also, along with the bard, are a close shot to replicating the classless characters featured in the Saga rule system which Dragonlance briefly used. I'd imagine the Hexblade to be a class extensively taken by Knights of Neraka. |

I think the hexblade in some ways gives up a few spells and all the special class stuff of a bard to be more like a battle bard. I usually give it perform as a class skill in the games I somtimes run and call it a battle bard. I'm not sure if it originally has perform though. |

He didn't ambush you and is being pretty up front with you- heck, I wouldn't even have given a player this kind of "poll the forums" option. His campaign after all. You could always make a cleric/fighter and balance it to get some of the same feel. |
