Cleric of Mystra [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-18-05, 10:16 PM I will be playing a cleric of Mystra in an upcoming campaign (I usually DM). Can you player wizards give me some good ideas for feats, domains, and a PrClass? I want the character to be a ladder climber in the church hierarchy as well as a strict follower of Mystra's dogma. I also love the idea of mixing archane spell use in with my cleric spells. Does anyone know if archane spell failure chance applies to clerics that wear armor?

We have the core books as well as Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide and Players Guide. I do not mind power gaming as I rarely get to play and each time I do I try to exploit a different class to learn (as a DM) what can be done.

This was also posted on the Character Op. boards but this seems to see more action.

03-18-05, 11:51 PM If you multi-class to an arcane caster then any arcane spells you cast are affected by arcane spell failure but divine spells are never subject to this. Obvious choices are going mystic theurge and gaining high caster levels in both arcane and divine, and perhaps the magic domain.

Normally I hate it when people quote from within the same thread (as if they couldn't remember what the previous poster wrote), but I had to make an exception for this one.

Seek out the Cheater of Mystra!! I don't remember the entire build, but I believe that it's generally agreed to be the most broken build around (competitors for this position would be: Hulking Hurler planet cracking build, King of Smack, the H.I.V.E.).
You can probably find the build in the CO board. Basically it's Cleric of Mystra 5/ Dweomerkeeper 10/ Whatever 5. Take a few feats like Initiate of Mystra and you'll be able to: have full cleric casting, prepare most arcane spells through anyspell/greater anyspell, cast spells from WITHIN an Anti-magic field, and most importantly cast spells without any components like costly material components or xp costs (FREE wish/limited wish/permanency/miracle).

Let me say that last part again: FREE wishes!

If you can't powergame with free limited wishes at level 13 ....

Any ways, as far as theme/flavor/backstory goes, Cleric of Mystra, Initiate of Mystra, Dweomerkeeper (a PrC specifically for Mystran Clerics). Fill in the blank levels with Devoted Disciple, Contemplative, or whatever else (see if you can con your DM into letting you have Chosen of Mystra after 17th level).
