The PHB starter packacge for a cleric recomends taking scribe scroll as a feat, but if you need UMD then he cant actually use them. Also the synergy list says that 5 ranks in spellcraft gives you a +2 in UMD when using scrolls. Which suggests to me that you need UMD. Can someone clear this up for me? |

So yes. Unless, a Cleric is trying to use Druid scrolls than you need UMD. Also the synergy list says that 5 ranks in spellcraft gives you a +2 in UMD when using scrolls. Which suggests to me that you need UMD. No, it means you have a beter chance using UMD if you are also good at spellcraft. |

You might only need Restoration once in a blue moon, so you don't bother preparing it every day, you just scribe a scroll of it so it's there when you need it. It's not a great feat choice or anything, but Clerics can get use out of it. |
