Clever rogue help. [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-07-07, 04:41 PM hello all. well ive just recently made a 6th lvl rogue to run through Ravenloft (i know not the best choice for fighting undead x.x but idc) and im trying my best to make him very charasmatic, friendly (to PC knowlege XD) and sly. the only problem is i am not any of these lol. though i do make mental note of things other players might have missed to later take advantage of a situation, my word play is not very good at all. and that is supose to be a main calling point for Kale. am i stupid for wanting to play this kind of char with out knowing how to? or do i just need to work harder at it?

02-07-07, 05:39 PM First off, I have to say I LOVE Ravenloft, it has been my DM world for quite some time/intermixed with The Realms. Second, I believe no one is ever stupid for wanting to try something new in D+D. That is what keeps this game so fresh after all these years - at least to me.

So no, you are not stupid. Roleplaying fluent character stereotypes is a great feat. Unless you are a fine actor in improv, generally it takes a little work to pinpoint that PC personality.

My advice is to watch a few movies. Garner an interest in sneaky, well versed people. Take away from that key phrases or attitudes you want to incorporate into your character short of ripping off the movie blatantly... Also try books, I know they have those little black things in there called words but they help even more than film. :D

Also, do not worry. In time, playing the character over and over will be all you need to develop the PC to that ideal spot in your minds eye. Also, you can sneak attack undead I believe and constructs - can not remember the book though off the top of my head as I am at work. Maybe PHII - maybe another poster can help me out? Then again I could be wrong....:confused:

Edit: I think I am wrong about the undead sneak attack although I am positive about the construct sneak attack

02-07-07, 05:44 PM =D thanks for the help. and i do read alot of books. Kale is a CG good version of Jarlaxle (only in style and manisum though =D)

02-07-07, 05:51 PM Suggest that your caster take Gravestrike as a 1st level spell. Also consider a Ghost Strike weapon (Libris Mortis, pg. 77)

Check out the spell Spark of Life in the spell compendium as well.

Couldn't say about the PHII, but you might find something in the Complete Adventurer..
