| runewaybur01-20-08, 04:39 PM | I'm not sure where this should be placed, but I'm posting here because this is a conflict between two players. I'm playing a Saint, with cold Immunity. A player attacked me with a Orb of fire, saying that in the DMG is states that "PG. 291. A creature with cold immunity, such as a frost giant, never takes cold damage. It has a vulnerability to fire.." Meaning his orb got to do 1.5x damage. Is this correct? |
| CryoSilver01-20-08, 04:41 PM | Yup. He's right. |
| PrinceOfTheVoid01-20-08, 04:53 PM | No, that's not true. You only take double damage from fire if you have the Cold subtype. Which Saint does not. |
| CryoSilver01-20-08, 04:57 PM | Read the passage in the DMG. It says he takes 150% damage because he has cold immunity. |
| runewaybur01-20-08, 05:02 PM | On page 307 of the MM it states that creatures with the Cold Subtype are immune to cold damage and take the 1.5x Damage. Wouldn't these be in conflict, and thus the MM would be used considering it's more of a Primary source for the subject than the DMG is? Otherwise something such as a frost giant would have the cold Subtype (1.5x fire), and be immune to cold (Another 1.5x damage) |

| Cifer01-20-08, 07:47 PM | As has been said by dawnbringer and runewaybur, only creatures of the Cold Subtype have any vulnerability towards fire. |
