| battlesong2012-05-06, 11:46 PM | My brother wants to start playing in our upcoming campaign and he really wants to play a con man/gambler, some one who is really good at finding the "big score". I mean a real Lando Calrission type of guy. Anybody got any idea where I can find info on this type of character? |
| IdleAltruism12-05-06, 11:48 PM | Possibly the upcoming compelte scoundrel. |
| Roivas12-06-06, 12:08 AM | What else does he want to do besides be lucky? Finding big scores are more a matter of luck if you do so without a plan, and Lando is basically a lucky 1st level rouge. I would advise he have a high charisma, plenty of ranks in the social skills, and maybe a feat like master manipulator. But he should also be more specific as to what other abilities he would like his character to have, and think about how he will be useful to the group. |
| battlesong2012-06-06, 01:05 AM | im looking for information more in the way of game mechanics. does any body know a link that shows me crunchy details about this character type. I mean like special skills and stuff like that. I know he'll need high score in charisma and intellegance, and high ranks in bluff and diplomacy but I want to see how other people have played this and if any body else has actually made this its own sub class (not prestige class but a start up sub class). |
| X-Codes12-06-06, 01:46 AM | I thought this was going to be another thread about Monkey Grip... Seriously, a guy that looks into exploiting economic opportunities generally uses the social skills, Sleight of Hand, Open Lock, and various Knowledge skills, especially Knowledge (local). High ranks in those skills generally indicates a con artist. |
| Tarkwin12-06-06, 11:16 AM | there are so many class's out there right now that would be amazing at this already why make it its own class I have played a rogue like this and also a bard that was very similar and i think the beguiler would excel in what you looking for without having to go and make a seperate class. | Cifer12-06-06, 01:05 PM | I agree with Tarkwin except about the spelling... Rogues, bards (both PHB) and beguilers (PHB 2) are just about exactly what you want, each of them with a slightly different focus. |
| battlesong2012-06-06, 09:27 PM | ok sorry I worded that wrong. I'm not asking for it as a class. I'm not real sure if I can explain to you through typing. A street fighter from the comp. adventurer is still a fighter but it has more class bonuses and skills that make it more than just a fighter. I want something that does this for a con man character. |
| Krusk12-08-06, 01:23 AM | I think he wants a prestige class. |
| Retromancer12-08-06, 04:14 PM | fatespinner. |
| battlesong2012-10-06, 02:28 AM | Looks like Ill be waiting for comp. scoundrel. Thanks any ways. |
