nyaif36 08-24-05, 04:47 AM	ok, i am confrustrated, i met some kids who supposedly enjoyed playing dnd and a short game was going to be played at thier house but when i left i was short by a signifigant number of books (2phb, 1 mm, 2 dmg, 1 faerun campaign setting) and since then i tried to get the books back but i have no solid proof that it was them, i no longer even talk to them nor know anyone who does, i am pretty sure they sold them for drugs and i am angry about it, i know there is nothing i can do but i really, really, really needed to vent (i am angry)
Pyritefoolsgold 08-24-05, 05:54 AM	Okay, let this be a warning to all good players: If you are thinking about gaming with some people, think about what reaction you would have if your books went missing. If it's "I probably left it at home someplace, it'll turn up." Is what you would think, that's good! If "They probably stole my books and sold them for drugs." Is the first thing that would come to mind, you probably shouldn't play with these guys.

Also, please define "confrustrated".... :)

nyaif36 08-24-05, 07:33 PM	confrustration is a combination of confused and frustrated... and the reason i played with them was that at the time i was under the impression that they were ok people, obviously i was sorely wrong, as for the loss of so many books i am in some ways a wandering dm/player that has introduced an immense number of people to dnd, magic and other geeky things.
AlphaSquirell 08-24-05, 09:47 PM	Hunt them down and ask them about it. Plain and simple. I lent a guy my pocket knife once, and didn't get it back for 3 or 4 days. (simply because he didn't remember who gave it to him, and when I asked him about it, he brought it too me the next day)
UltimateReality 08-24-05, 11:06 PM	This is why our names go in the front of all our books in pen or marker, and we do not leave the gaming premises until we have collected all the books we came with. If they sold 'em for drugs, that's harsh. They could've at least shared with you! :ahem:

Phrennzy 08-25-05, 01:02 PM	If you have tried to contact them and been unable, and you think they have sold the books for drugs, then this will have to be a lesson for you. If your books are important to you, you should make sure you have them all before leaving the place. Leaving "2phb, 1 mm, 2 dmg, 1 faerun campaign setting" and not noticing stretches credibility. That's 6 books. How you can not notice them missing is beyond me. If you left the books at their house on purpose - so they could study them or whatnot - then you should be able to go back to them and request them back. There does come a time where you will have to write it off, and take this as a lesson to keep tighter control and use better judgement. Its a crap way to learn a lesson, but that's what makes those lessons stick.
DraconsNighthawk 08-25-05, 02:00 PM	Well if he owns alot of books, it is possibke. I mean I own all the core rule books, campagin settings, supplements and adventures. (Thought the adventuers are in PDF format). I own them all for 3.0 and 3.5, except Cloak and Dagger. It may have been easy to misplace 6 of them if he brought his ENTIRE libary including the Kelevmor, Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk and Ebberron settings/supplement books. Word of advice. For new players that you are going to DM? PHB, MM, and DMG ONLY until you think they can handle the power of DnD.

Unfortunately, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. :confused: It still merits siggification. (btw, it wasn't a wizo, it was a marketing exec...she probably got her books for free anyway. :P)
