Ocalus 01-08-07, 11:02 AM	Our PCs recently liberated a dungeon complex in which we found a captive owlbear. All the info we can find suggests that owlbears are far too aggressive to control, but we really want to do something with it. Does anyone know of some method - magical or mundane - for potentially controlling such a beast?
Oblix 01-08-07, 11:17 AM	Put it in masterwork manacles and poke it with a stick? Let it starve, then make consistent displays that you're the only one who's going to feed it. Once it understands that you're the hand that feeds it, not the food yourself, even the most simple of intellects will behave to some regard. This isn't a true tame beast ability, but maybe your DM will let it slide via RP purposes. Oh, and being evil helps. :schemes:

Elemental_Elf 01-08-07, 05:10 PM	You could always eat it... I mean Owlbear Stir Fry has to be good... :D But if you want to keep it as a Pet, then I'd sugest Dominate Animal. Otherwise... You know I don't know, I've never had the urge to tame an owlbear before so I'm out of ideas...
IdleAltruism 01-08-07, 05:18 PM	You take improved grapple and have an admantine chain and collar made. Whenever it gets upidy smack it around a bit(clubs and monks are best for this they do subdual). From the constant abuse it should be very ill tempered(moreso then usual) and it will eventualy learn it can't take you. Pretty simple from then on, let it loose on your enemies. Owl bears are magical beasts so I believe a druid could wild empathy it also(albiet a -4 I think).
