I'm going to be crafting a belt form my wizard and I am confused as to what the gp and xp cost will be. Here is my idea.

Materials

Black Dragonhide belt with 6 small pouches and 1 large pouch.
Mithral buckles (belt and pouch buckles) and belt loop

On the 6 small pouches I want them to act exactly like the Heward Haverstad Sack (not sure on the exact name) but on a smaller scale. Each pouch can hold only 5 pounds or .5 cubic feet (1/4 of the Heward sack)

The large pouch will be a type 1 bag of holding (would actually like this smaller then the type 1)

I know that I will need 7 Leomunds Secret Chest spells for the pouches. I also want to place the spell Resit Energy (Acid due to the black dragon hide) on this belt.

So this is where I am unsure of the cost in this item. The purpose is that the small pouches will act as my spell component pouches, but able to hold more then an average pouch and I would not need as many pouches for each item since the pouches would act exactly as the Heward Sack would. The ability to grab what you want with out looking.

So does anyone have any idea as to the gp and xp cost on this item would be. I know that this item would be up to my DM but I want to be able to understand the formula used in calculating these cost.

Thanks for the help.

Before I start addressing the item on its own - a belt pouch is probably able to hold .5 cubic feet and 5 pounds.

The biggest benefit of using something similar to a bag of holding/Heward's Handy Haversack is the relative reduction in equipment weight and the ability to carry vast amounts with little effect to your character.

Since the belt you want to design can't hold very much - just how light are you thinking?

For comparison: Bag of Holding Type I, 15 lbs, can hold 250lbs or up to 30 cu. feet, 2500gp (1250gp + 100xp)
Handy Haversack, 5 lbs, 2 pouches 20lbs or 2 cu. feet and 1 pouch 80lbs or 8 cu. feet, 2000gp (1000gp + 80xp)

You want something that has 6 pouches with 5lbs or .5 cu. feet each and a larger pouch with something smaller than the Bag of Holding.

In terms of ability this is somewhere between the Haversack and Bag of Holding Type I (if the large sack is equivalent, then it is slightly better).

I would probably price it around 2500gp for a market price and then add the cost of the dragon scales (I assume you are providing them, so there's no extra cost for that). If you are only looking for Resist Acid 5 for the belt only (or even Resist Acid 20), I'd probably give it to you for free - because, for me, it doesn't come into play very often... If you wanted it to be a benefit to you (as in it gives you a constant Resist Acid 5) - that's a completely different story obviously.

Anyway, if you wanted it to weigh less than the Bag of Holding - I'd probably move the price up a notch (to say, 3000gp). If you wanted it at, say 2 lbs - I might even move it up to 5,000gp - because that's a big benefit. Of course, all of this would depend on just how much the large pouch can hold...

Hope that helps.
