I want to create an alchemist but I don't know what books to use. All what my friend told me was that an alchemist is like a wizard.

My advice is create z wizard and have him have an extreme interest in potions and herbalism. Just playing a guy who makes creme good for rashes wont be much use to your party.

Another possibility is the new Eberron class: The Artificer which while isnt technically an alchemist has the feel and specializes in making temporary magical items.

Also the Magic of Faerun book has a prestige class called "The Master Alchemist" which will eventually allow your character to make Potions out of 9th list spells at the highest levels.

Transmografist with item crafting feats (poss. Red Wizard if DM allows), Candle Mage (with candle replaced with alchemical device), Effigy Master, or, if you're lucky enough to have Dragonmech, use some of those classes.

Did the friend say that he wanted to be an alchemist? If he/she likes anime and/or watches Adult Swim on Cartoon Network, they might mean that they want to ba an alchemist like those on the show Fullmetal Alchemist.

Ask them this.

If that's the case, then the best bet would be a wizard or sorceror with a focus on transmutation and conjuration, a psionic character that's basically like that(I don't know that much about psionics.....) or perhaps the class someone made here: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=227272&highlight=full+metal+alchemist (I'm planning on using this one for Fullmetal-style alchemists in my campaign)

If it's not based on that, then just a wizard with ranks in Craft Alchemy, focus in transmutation spells, brew potion, and craft wondrous item.....

(yes, I am an anime lover, and that show is always the first thing to come to my mind when I hear/see the word alchemist........also, the second page of that thread has spoilers to the end of the series)

Either Wizard or Cleric.

Higher int.

Max ranks in Craft (alchemy), fair number of ranks in Knowledge (nature).

At 3rd level, Brew Potion feat.

You can pretty much stick with the PHB with a few items from other books here and here. Or work with the DM to make stuff up.

Thanks for the info. The type of alchemist. I wanted to try and make was going to be a perfect combination of a wizard, cleric, druid, and probably a herbilist(I think a herbalist is a class)

By the way what type of a dice should, I use for the HP. And what are the best feats and Skill's to go with it and what books are they in.
