| glimeral10-12-04, 11:50 PM | Ive got this refreshing character concept that id like to develop around playing one of a pair of conjoined twins (the other either being an NPC, player controlled PC or another PC under my control). Anyway, Im wanting ideas how to actually create the character(s). I was thinking of having them roll separate statistics (but then adjusting their statistics so that they are 4 or 5 points different from each other by raising one characters stat and lowering the others so that they vary by no more than 4 or 5 points, allowing variation due to speciality, but also reflecting their genetics being identical), separate HP, classes, levels, skills and feats. The twins would have a shared movement statistic (30 feet) probably with a x3 run modifier and x2 hustle or perhaps x2 run modifier and x1.5 hustle, however if they do not move, they have two move equivilent actions (one each) depending on what they attempt to do. I was going to allow them to use the aid another ability when making reflex saves (if they are aware of the attack coming) and have enough time to do so, although i was going to require both characters to make the save, and if either fail the save is considered a failure. I was going to require polymorph effects to target both characters as if they were one target but let them either make two save attempts (one each) to resist the effect (if either succeeds the attempt is a success), use the better save results (with a bonus or penalty equal due to the other person also resisting it probably equal to their constitution modifier), or somehow pool the results. Electrical and sonic attacks treat both characters as a single target and thus require both characters to make saves (as the electricity spreads quickly from one to the other and the sonic attacks are targeting two people in the same location), but fire and acid attacks only require both to make saves if it is an area effect (and both are within the effect). If one is in the effect, they both make saves (but only one suffers if either result is a failure as above) assuming it calls for a reflex save. Petrification, paralysis, poison, disease and death effects would target only one of the twins... and the second twin would need to save 1d4 rounds later (to account for the spread of the infection/attack through the body to where they are joined)... In the case of petrification, paralysis and death effects however i would only require the second twin to save if the targeted twin fails their saving throw. Charms, compulsions, illusions are saved against individually (with the former two targeting both characters as separate characters). If one is charmed or compelled and the other does not, there may be a contest of wills over movement actions, but the characters would still control their own bodies functions (therefore the non-charmed character can still make attacks etc but may have trouble reaching the opponent if they are at a distance). I was thinking that the twins (if they are side by side) would have 10ft space but only a 5ft reach... If they are back to back i was thinking of having them be impossible to flank from the rear (unless one of them is unconcious, paralysed etc). Im not sure how to work out their dex adjustment to AC, I was thinking of using their own positive dex adjustment (if any) as well as the other characters negative dex adjustment (if any)... If both have positive adjustments of differing values i was thinking of perhaps using the worse of the two results. Given that they are still both in control of their own biologies, they obviously can both make standard actions, and full attack actions at the same time (if either takes a full attack action however they are both restricted to 5ft move). Anyway, critiques or ideas about anything ive missed or anythign you would do different anyone? |

| Rian Lightblade10-13-04, 08:03 PM | You might want to check out the Netbook of Unlawful Carnal Unknowledge (on-line), or the Book of Erotic Fantasy (in stores) Both might have sections on what you're looking for. Actually on second thought go with the savage species threads |
| glimeral10-14-04, 12:48 AM | I already considered the savage species threads such as making a variant of the symbiont creature or the multi-headed creature, except that the idea isnt to make one character with these traits, but two characters who just happened to be conjoined (either at the hip or back to back). And because of this, i wasnt going to bother with level adjustment or anything like that, since they both rely on each other for survival (if either of them dies the other is likely to die shortly thereafter also). |
