I know that this is probably gonna sound very stupid, but would it be possible for someone here to talk me through exactly how to create a character? Ive already got the simple things figured out, such as...

Name:Elkantezz Pharl
Race: Half-Drow (same as half elf according to the Faerun Campaign Book)
Class: Rouge Lvl 1
STR:12
DEX:17
CON:14
INT:15
WIS:14
CHA:15

I've got the three core books, but upon reading them, it's so daunting to create a character for the first time.

Me and my group have decided to start playing on saturday, but im not going to be able to get in contact with either of them, so could someone help me here or on MSN (squizbett@hotmail.com)? Thanks :D

02-01-06, 01:31 PM so the main question you want to ask yourself is what kind of 1/2 elf rogue do I want? is she going to be the sneaky pick you pocket type of rogue or the diplomatic type, or any other type of rogue type you can think of. The rogue has lots of skill points so you can get a lot different skills. What are the other party members are you the only rogue? I would say that for a roque using the standerd rules that a good feat to take is improved initiative, that way you can catch people flat footed and then you get your sneak attack damage, for a weapon I would use rapier and then later take the Weapon Finesse feat and improved crit that will let you use your dex instead of str bounse to be added to your attack, and with improved crit on a rapier you will have a crit range of 15-20 that is a 25% chance everytime you roll the dice. so the only real question left is what skills to take, if you are the only rogue in the group then you will be called on to find all traps and disarm them and will need to take search and Disable Device. Also you will want hide, listen, spot, move silent so you can scout ahead and see what is happing and report back to the group. Any I hope this gives you some ideas and what you really need to do is ask yourself what kind of a rogue do you want to play.

02-04-06, 05:54 AM Thanks mate, the other PC in my group is a Human Paladin, so i suppose i would need to be the sneaky trap finding sorta rouge with that behind me.

02-04-06, 11:21 AM Don't forget to photocopy the character sheet in the back of your PHB. Having a structured character sheet to fill in should make things a bit smoother for you.
