DrMorganes 10-25-07, 08:58 AM	Everything you need to know is described in the Players Handbook. Ability Score generation isn't covered in the Open Game License, so we can't really go into that here. However, the process is pretty straight forward. Follow the steps in this document (http://pws.cablespeed.com/~drmorganes/dnd/directions.doc) and you should be just fine. (NOTE: I didn't write it. Don't email me or send me private messages if you find errors of any sort.)

If you do not know this then there is really no reason for you to know it as you are in no way prepared to play the game. Before playing the game you need to know the game. Read your PHB, it's all in there. Also, self-quoting and multi-quoting are agaisnt the CoC. Good luck.
camkidz 10-26-07, 08:59 PM	Well I really want to play... but my family is very poor and I'm trying to save up to buy what I need... I'm typing all of this at a public library.I don't even have my own computer... all I have so far is the dice and my character sheet.:raincloud

If you haven't got access to a PHB, you can use the System Reference Documents (http://www.d20srd.org/) instead, which will give you the bare-bones mechanics that will allow you to play. Now, in order to play you're going to want to either invest in your own computer and internet connection, or buy the core rulebooks. Alternatively, if you believe you can get a hold of a computer at least once a day, you could try one of several Play by Post gaming forums. The first of these is the official WotC PbP forum (http://forums.gleemax.com/forumdisplay.php?f=278). However, there is usually high demand for places and competition is fierce, so don't get discouraged if your first character doesn't get in. There are others, and the one I normally go on is the Giant in the Playground (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=51) gaming forum, which tends to have more games opening for recruitment at a given time, though not all last. This is a sad fact about all PbP gaming. To participate in a PbP game, you will usually need to have your character sheet stored electronically, at a place such as Myth Weavers (http://www.myth-weavers.com/), which hosts online character sheets. Given that your internet time will be limited, consider filling out your character sheet with simple pencil and paper and simply transcribing it. Myth Weavers, incidentally, also have their own (http://www.myth-weavers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=141) PbP forums, though it's not as active as the GiantITP forums. Hope this helps!:)
