| acarpenter11-22-07, 09:22 PM | How do you figure out 1d3??? Thanks, Alan Happy Thanksgiving |
| Tempest Stormwind11-22-07, 09:25 PM | Roll a d6, and treat half the numbers as smaller. For instance, divide even numbers by 2, or treat 456 as 123. |
| Far_Traveler11-22-07, 09:28 PM | For one, medium daggers do not do 1d3, they do 1d4. However, SMALL daggers do, so if your talking about halflings, goblins, gnomes, or kobolds we're good. 1d3 is calculated as such: 1d4 reroll 4's 1d6: 1,4=1 2,5=2 3,6=3 OR 1-2=1 3-4=2 5-6=3 1d12: 1-4=1 5-8=2 9-12=3 |
| Watsyurname52911-22-07, 09:47 PM | all the above methods work. I think the d6 with 1-2 being 1, 3-4 being 2, etc. being the best method. Although, I just house rule the small dagger damage to be 1d4 anyway. |
| Tovec11-22-07, 11:51 PM | All of the above are good, but honestly its 1d3, and more often then not 1d3-1 or 2. If someone in my group can't figure out a d3, I just say you rolled # each time. Why is the small person using a dagger anyhow? A rogue with sneak attack sure but when they do the d3 isn't making or breaking anything. |
| High Octane11-23-07, 12:39 AM | Roll a d3. What do you mean you don't have one? EVERYONE has one. N00b. |
| KillerVole11-23-07, 01:09 AM | You can actually but "d3"s. They are D6s, with 1, 2, and 3 printed on two sides each. They should be relatively cheap online. |
| Grumman11-23-07, 02:58 AM | Roll a d3. What do you mean you don't have one? EVERYONE has one. N00b. I used to have one, until it collapsed in on itself. That was the last time I bought spacetime-warping technology without a warranty. |
| danielinthewolvesden11-23-07, 03:12 AM | Roll a d3. What do you mean you don't have one? EVERYONE has one. N00b. I have two. They are like KillerVole descibed, but one has numbers and the other pips. |
| Cifer11-23-07, 07:17 AM | I used to have one, until it collapsed in on itself. That was the last time I bought spacetime-warping technology without a warranty. It's a shame how these gaming stores are abusing our trust, isn't it? |
| aotrscommander11-23-07, 08:04 AM | Roll a d3. What do you mean you don't have one? EVERYONE has one. N00b. I've got one actually; just a D6 with 1-3 number on it. Didn't realise it, though, until me and one of my friends were playing a wargame where he was rolling for some explosive weapon which backfired one a 1 and lost most of his squad. I rolled the dice a few times and said, "that's a bit of a crap die! I'm going to pick the damn thing up and put it down on 6 and...ah. Ah. Yes. As they say, really, that explains everything..." A while later, he discovered to his chagrin that one of D10 was marked with nothing lower than 7 in more or less the same way... |

I was getting real annoyed at how low my d6 rolls were until the lights come on upstairs and i realized i had been rolling a D3 the whole time. |
| Dog_O_War11-23-07, 01:00 PM | I've got 6 1d3's, but 5 of them have their numbers worn off, so you'd never know. I tricked a friend once into rolling stats with one of these; he had three d6's and my d3. I laughed so hard when he said "man, why are these so low all the time?" |
| Mock2611-23-07, 02:04 PM | 1d3 is very easy. Take three dice of the same type (such as 3 4-siders, or 3 6-siders, or 3 100-siders) and throw them at your DM. The number that hit your DM is the number of points of damage that you do. If they all miss then you do a minimum of 1 point of damage. |

Yeah I forgot my dice once as DM and rolling damage for a fireball one of my bastard players handed me a bunch of those without telling me. I found out a session later when I was twiddling with one of them while we were ordering food. Guess who fell into a pit full of rust monsters? |
