| Astrimedes11-21-04, 03:16 AM | I don't think there's too much you can do about preventing true res, but you can permanently remove body parts and destroy them to prevent raise dead (destroy brain, heart, head, etc for example). |
| Quenditar11-21-04, 03:23 AM | Basically, you need some way to trap the soul, if you want them to be well and truly dead (beyond even true resurrection). There is a spell that does just that. Alternately, a thinaun weapon (thinaun is a metal introduced in Complete Warrior) would hold the soul, although disposing of it permanently is still a problem. A sphere of annihilation works, if you somehow have access to one. Imprisonment is very good for hiding people, and someone who's alive can't be resurrected. The simplest method is probably to animate the corpse, but the resulting undead creature has to be well-protected, because as soon as it is destroyed resurrection is possible. |

| Lord_Anthrax11-21-04, 09:14 AM | Well, if you can trap their soul, you can always take it to Hades or Baator and give it to a fiend on the provision the soul is devoured here and now. Alternatively, if the rules from Book of Vile Darkness apply, you can destroy their soul by using it as a spell component. This is particularly fun if you do it in front of their friends and/or loved ones while casting Prestidigitation. |

Remeember also that many DMs take the attitude that Undead DO NOT have souls, and so he can become a Lich or whatever anyway. Remember though that it take a lot of money to true resurect somone, and it also takes somone who wants them back. Kill off all of his assosiates, kill off all his henchmen (or at least those smart enough to hench) and keep the body safe or destroyed (disintigrated is good.) |
