I'm a neutral evil cleric serving an evil deity. My specialties are death and magic. In my party are two Dwarves, a fighter and a mage. The mage is lawful. I thought I could deal with this flaw, but the last couple weeks his depency on 'order' is starting to affect my service to my goddess. I need to remove him. What is the best way to off a fellow PC who is an arcane caster?

Chop off his hands and tongue? Byebye Somatic and Verbal components.

Anyway, how high level are you? Midlevel I strongly recomment casting Spell Resistance and Deathward before going into combat, Dispel Magic and Harm are nice too, 150 damage to a character with hd d4? OUCH. Summon spells come in handy, summon about 3 to 4 monsters and surround him, even if he takes a 5 ft step he is still in reach and provokes AOO when casting.

use your death dom's granted power when his HP are dropped to half.It works just like power word kill that means no save allowed.

I like E-vile's hand and tongue idea but that may take a lot of work and since called shots are a thing of the past, maybe a bit impossible. Since wizards rely almost entirely on memorized spells, (assuming you guys are of low enough level where the wiz is not walking around with a belt full of wands, and I get the feeling that you are) I would wait until he expends the majority of his spells and then attack him physically. Make sure you are not in a situation where you may still need him to get out of a jam. Heading back to town to rest would be a good example of an opportune time to strike. You will probably be fairly depleted in spell power yourself but a physical fight against a wizard is probably going to be a cake walk.
Of course, if all else fails there is always the coup de grace in his sleep. . . but that seems to be a bit cowardly for my tastes.

How about a nice silence spell cast on yourself then walk over to him like you want to give him something and then pass him a little note. Write something on the note... Haha now you die!

Now beat the snot out of him with your weapon. Works if he doesn't have any silence spells readied.

Another way, Do you all have a bag of holding? Fold up a portable hole and hide it in some of your wizards belongings that he keeps in the bag of holding, (maybe hide it in his bed roll or something so when he packs his pack in the morning... BOOM no more wizard..just make sure you are answering the call of mother nature when he is packing )

If i remember correctly, death knell has a will save and the target has to be dying.

you could always do the CLW shimmy and forget to switch off your inflict spell for a cure spell and rock him. It's a Fort. he'll never make.

Other wise just Attack him, he is a wizard, wait till his spells are gone or low and rip him apart in melee.

From the SRD

DEATH DOMAIN
Granted Power: You may use a death touch once per day. Your death touch is a supernatural ability that produces a death effect. You must succeed on a melee touch attack against a living creature (using the rules for touch spells). When you touch, roll 1d6 per cleric level you possess. If the total at least equals the creature’s current hit points, it dies (no save).

Just thought I'd help.

Autolycus is right Big Dawg.I talked about the death domain's granted power not death knell. It's the simplest and most reliable method of killing a wizard ally

im sorry, but it just seems funny that you could actually lose in such a combat with a wizard.

personally ive learned to write my spells down per day on a sheet folded, so none can see. I show the dm the stasis of the spells in the sense that nothing is changed when i start. afterwhich this is all done in pen, so i can't change nothing.

but it prevents those who think there gonna count my casting, and then strike when its lowest. i don't allow anyone to actually know the ammount of bonus spells per day or what not i can do.

I also tell the dm what spells im casting via paper, and he explains to the group the effects. So none know what im casting.

No one checks out what spells i actually have. its great that way. i always go to bed witha few spells in my head. so if i wake up an i save on my coupe de grace attack (that the rogue decided he'd do... id then kick his worthless hide.)

yep. good luck with your spell casting challange. as a fellow caster i hope you get dusted.

But in all respects this post is just to add a bit of color. since everyone else has pretty much answered your question.

good luck.

It isn't going to be a fight but a single hit behind the wizard's back.Despites it's too dificult foreseeing your truted ally to betray you so you don't have to be asleep to have him deliver a coup de grace on you.He can score critical hits on the wizard any time he wants (although my suggestion was using the domain's power) because the wizard won't know he'd have to defend against such an attempt.

So if both characters are the same lvl then the cleric could kill a fully healed wizard(+1 con bonus) with one touch (I'm talking about average HP and death touch dmg)

Okay...You want to kill the wizard.
Take watch one night...

Coup de Gras. (9 damage on the low side, Fort at DC 19)

Game Over
Flawless Victory

What's more, if your diety is objecting to the orderly nature of the wizard, this sort of trechery and assassination tactic is particularly ironic.

Of course, if you kill a party member, don't be surprised if the rest of the party decides you can't be trusted and you have to go. Might be good to summon some allies right after you splut the wizard and blame them for the act. Summoned Fiendish Apes would probably be good choices.
