altoman188 04-16-07, 03:02 AM	I have been interested in making a character who's goal in life starts out or becomes to become a god. I'm not sure if this would be a selfish evil desire for power or a selfless thing upon seeing a peoples need. By the rules it just needs a amount of worship from people to start you down the god road but I'm not sure how a character would come about that. I think it would be a fun, if overpowered campaign. Im thinking after we hit epic levels and we are known all around the world for things that the group has done. I was also thinking that might be weird if one person in the group were trying to get that if the rest of the group could really keep with him since it is sorta a crazy goal... anyways, thoughts?
Daydreamer 04-16-07, 04:00 AM	Try to give more details. LIke how are your other players, what is ur dm like? bc in my group this feat would be completely impossible, and hence pointless. Having said that here are several possibilities. 1) your character is 'philosophical' and looking about he sees people suffer without prayers being answered-he sets about to take destiny into his own hand by becoming the hero of the people. As he gains in popularity he begins to think more explicity in terms of becoming a god, a god who would not be indifferent. He helps everyone, but those who follow him he makes disciplines who help the world. Essentially he tries to set up a network of promoting his 'philosophy'-later that will be his pantheon. This would be good aligned. hook: "If the king wont do his job, someone else should be put on the throne" 2) your character sees death and destruction in the world. Perhaps some personal encounter with death makes him fear it, and he idolizes 'the perfection of living' that the gods represent. All men should stive to be like the gods (somewhat like ancient pagan wisdom). He seeks immortality by being what is undestroyable (unlike say a lich) and perfect. Your character is probably melodramatic, and overly dwells on the transcience of things. Hook: "All that i am and all that i love, i pursue this goal with passion so it will not fade to dust" 3) YOur character is a meglomaniac. he already worships himself, but he has some charm too him. He goes beyond mere arrogance to a sort of shameless self confidence, and others in a way begin to admire him for this. Through his desire to be loved he helps others. If you want to develop the character you could have him be humbled somehow and then take up the mantle once with the recognition that his position of power means responsibility. hook "Destiny has chosen me, my dreams today will be reality tommorow" just some character type suggestions, your question is too vague for me to formulate more details. hope it helps, the only thing i could think of is if you sell them on a character concept your more likely to be able to get what you want.

altoman188 04-17-07, 03:24 AM	It is in appendix 2 of deities and demigods, and maybe other locations. There are actually several ways of going about it in the book. As for my group mostly we are goofs. We role play but only to some extent. I talked to the DM about this and he thinks it would be a fun idea if we can get to proper levels to start to that road. Our group is less about strict rules more about fun, so this may be a good setting for such a thing.

My character at the moment is a 8th level bard who is turning out to be pretty much amazing at whatever he does (a lot of lucky rolls and quick thinking) and he ends up doing more than any of the party members. He already has the leadership feat, 20 charisma, and heaps of ranks into all the social skills, and he is the one i am kinda looking at.
