| mists_cloud06-09-07, 11:17 PM | Hi all again, I'm looking for a weapon that will allow me to add DEX to the damage instead of STR, because, the Rogue will need high DEX for AC and for ranged weapons, so any help will do. |
| Gonf06-10-07, 01:56 AM | Light or hand crossbow. Check the books PHB2 and Drow of the Underdark. You can find Crossbow sniper (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/iw/20060406a) in the PHB 2 or online. The feat called 'crossbow sniper' is really good. Half of your dex to damage and other goodies. (increased SA range) Also 'Hand-Crossbow Focus' from Drow of the Underdark is a good feat if you can get it. I can't go into detail as I don't know if it would break the CoC. Anyhow. With either both of these feats (for a hand crossbow) you could deal some nice damage relying purely on Dex and sneak attack. Or you could go light crossbow, also a fun weapon, much better for distant ranged attacks. Good luck. |
| Majick06-10-07, 02:18 AM | Holy Pelor i don't know why no one has mentioned THE feat for dex based characters! Take 1 level of Sword Sage from the Tome of Battle (obviously you can only do this is you have favoured class (any) or are planning on using your races favoured class, otherwise the XP penalties will kick in and kick your ass later) Take AT LEAST ONE Shadow Hand Stance from the Shadow Hand martial school, and you are then allowed to take: SHADOW BLADE Dex bonus instead of Str to damage for the Shadow Hand discipline weapons the most prominent being dagger, shortsword and (w00t!) spiked chain; which of course is also two handed, finesse-able and has reach! b^_^d |

Step 2: Take 2 levels in Fighter. Step 3: Take 5 levels in Rogue. (Or do 4 fihgter and 3 rogue) Step 4: Enter the Champion of Corellon Lerethian PrC from Races of the Wild... Step 5: ... which lets you add your Dex bonus AND your Str bonus when wielding a Long Sword, Short Sword, Rapier, Elven Thinblade, Elven Fullblade, or Elven Courtblade. |
| DreamerInsane06-10-07, 05:54 AM | Shadow Blade allows Dex AND Str, too. Text trumps table, no? Text doesn't say a thing about losing Str to damage, table does. |
| Bob Loblaw06-10-07, 09:44 AM | There's also the Fierce ability in the Arms and Equipment Guide. It allows you to sacrifice your Dex bonus to AC to add to damage. |

| Tytalus06-12-07, 12:33 AM | Nothing to see here. |
| mists_cloud06-12-07, 07:38 PM | I plan to use ranged weapons, because with the crossbow sniper I can sneak attack 60 ft, but it doesn't say if you can use you DEX bonus on ranged weapons, I mean, wouldn't it work on a light crossbow? |
| Tytalus06-13-07, 12:37 AM | I plan to use ranged weapons, because with the crossbow sniper I can sneak attack 60 ft, but it doesn't say if you can use you DEX bonus on ranged weapons, I mean, wouldn't it work on a light crossbow? Crossbow sniper works with any crossbow (+1/2 DEX mod to damage). CoCL only works with melee weapons, and the Shadow Hand Stance is also restricted to melee. |
| pmurray@bigpond.com06-13-07, 01:45 AM | SHADOW BLADE Is this a stance or a strike? If it's a strike, then you only get to use it every other round, at best. If it's a stance, then ... omg. I may switch from twin kukris to a spiked chain. I'll have to look at the rules for multiclassing martial classes, (especially maneuver recovery with Adaptive Style) because Warblades do not have access to shadow hand. Considering I already have 8 ranks of warblade, if I go swordsage next level I will have the swordsage qty of maneuvers with access to level 5 maneuvers from the get-go. OMG. I could wind up with both Int (Battle Cunning) and dex (shadow blade) to damage - that's +11, with reach, per attack. |

| Chimaera200006-13-07, 04:45 PM | Yup, Shadow Blade is a a feat. So long as you stay in a Shadow Hand stance, you get the bonus damage. Of course, there's nothing saying that you can't use Shadow Blade and Champion of Corellon Larethian at the same time in melee.... short swords are Shadow Hand weapons, no? But yes, for what the OP is looking for, Crossbow Sniper is the only option that I know of for adding Dex to range attack damage. |

They are Shadow Hand weapons, but they are not on the list of weapons CoCL applies to. draco1119 was wrong in listing it in his post. |

Go twin daggers, as you can still gain a bunch of bonuses from tiger claw still. |

Tytalus is right. It only applies to Long Swords, Rapiers, and the Elven Blades (Thin, Full, and Court). |
| Lionhearted06-15-07, 08:08 AM | Isn't it the feat Deadeye shot somewhere that allows dex to damage on ranged weapons |
| zeratulcraft06-15-07, 08:18 AM | Within 30ft, yes. |
