04-16-06, 01:20 PM This probably isn't the right forum, but I like this board, so here we go. I need some dice, mostly d4's, but others would be nice. I am on a budget. Anyone know some good (reputable) places to purchase some fairly cheap dice?

Do not investigate the Dwarven Stones and Dwarven Metal unless you aren't serious about wanting to be cheap, or like tormenting yourself. Their affordable sets are pretty good too, though. I've got an acrylic Ancient fantasy set and a brushed steel Dwarven Metal set, both look nice and are extremely well balanced.

I told my stepson I wanted these metal mini dice for fathers day last year. As I had never bought something from "across the pond" (the company was in England), I did not think about exchange rates or international shipping. Well, I got the dice (1 set, seven dice)- and it only cost my stepson $47! Oops.
They are real nice, though.

04-16-06, 07:19 PM You could also go to a local gaming store. Even some comic shops that don't really sell gaming supplies carry dice. Most of the time you can expect to pay between 24 and 75 cents for a single 4-8 sided die, with bigger ines like d20s ranging from 75 cents to 2 dollars. Unless you want a solid metal d20 the size of your fist, which costs about $20 most places they're available.

04-21-06, 12:56 PM Think the pound o dice might be the way to go, I'll convince my roomate to chip in a bit, as he uses all my dice anyway. Also, I would try my local hobby store, but it is over 60 miles away :mad: the local bookstore carries vampire dice sets, but they consist of nothing but d10s. Anyway, thanks for the help!

04-22-06, 12:50 PM Just use the DnD website, they have a pop up program that automatically rolls x amount of whatever dice. Some people might consider it cheap or unfair but it is the easiest way. Or just steal the dice from some board games.

My "local" game store is ~35 miles away. The boonies suck.

Though, it's not much of a gaming store, more of a hobby shop. All kinds of models and RC stuff. A bit of MTG, lots of warhammer, and enough dice to drown a whale.

That was exactly the point.

I do have a dice program, and may just end up using that. I am getting a group started in about a week, and was just hoping to have enough d4 to go around. The pound of dice would be great, as I could assemble sets with it to give (read sell ;) ) to my players.

04-23-06, 08:55 PM The Skull+Bones set from Crystal Caste is a good buy - its a pound of dice with a linen skull bag - and it's guarunteed to have at least one Dwarven Stone die, sometimes two or three, though they don't necissarily match. $25 USD

The Chessex pound is nice, but I found the color mix was kinda bland, and it comes in a plastic bag. My friend got the Skull+Bones and I liked their dice way better - plus it comes in the Skull Bag! Skull Bag! You cannot deny the coolness of the Skull Bag!

Yeah, probably all the dice you and your players will ever ened (even if they every lose a few) can be bought for just about $18.00. What a blessing. :)

The only issue I've heard about the Bag-)-Dice is the fact that it's a tad low on the d20's.

04-23-06, 11:40 PM I remember way dragins magazine had a small advertisement for a boxed set of dice it was like 10 of each die and 20 for the 10 sided. Back then it was priced at 25 dollars which wasnt a bad price about 36 cents. Still wish I could buy those old boxes. They only came in transperant and opaque but their was a bigger 100 count box.

Not that this help you any but the old i need alot of cheap dice quest brought back memories.

Another place you might want to look at are school supply companies they have candy bowl containers full of dice. Usually theyre sold to schools but im sure theres a way to buy them for your purposes.

04-26-06, 02:24 PM I just recently bough 1,500 dice, it costed me about 1800 dollars, it was worth it though. I don't think that I will ever have to buy dice ever again.

04-26-06, 03:56 PM Oooh, dice. I remember the local WotC store had bins and bins of dice that you could just choose from. You could select a few you need or grab a couple handfuls. But now that WotC closed down their retail stores, all the local gaming stores only have the sets of dice. Usefull, but I miss having the big bins of them. My friends and I have fond memories of the WotC store. :(

Adverige price for funky marble effect dice (again no size based differance): 45p

Crazy big dice that you could kill a man with: >.> <.< (what?) about Ł5.

Also I am allways seeing crazy new dice, like d100 that are two d10s, a small one inside a large seethrough one.
