This may seem a craZy question, but I have to know...
Do you have dice that like you?

I meen, I can always roll well on the d10, but the d12 hates me. I only have a 15% chance of rolling something higher than a 7...

Anyone else have dice that like or dislike them?

... nope .. my entire dice bag hates me ....
I'm the only person I know that defies the "bell curve logic" when rolling a d20 ...

Typical Results:
5,7,3,9,4,10,4,15,1,4,10,1,1,2,14,18(wee hooo!!!),11,10,9,3,7,15,14,10,13,2,19(we ehoo!!),14,4,1,3,1,9, ... :banghead:

I seem to do ok with d8s ... d6s I think I average out ... d4s .. depends .. one night I'll hit 3s and 4s ... next night, 1s and 2s ... *sigh*
d12s, d10s and d20s ... forget it ...
d% I'm pretty good with ... I tend to .. not ... roll low ... (I love avoiding 20% miss chance ... "Oh look, I hit again!!" .hehe) ... I noticed this especially while playing my Wilder ...

Me: "Ok, I surge for +3 again ... "
DM: "Ok 15% chance of enervation, roll .. I want to see this ..."
Me: "Ok ... " <rolls> 35% :D
DM:
Lather - rinse - repeat ad nauseum ....

I just never seem to miss it .. Played from level 3 up to level 15 as a Wilder .. surged every time I manifested something ... (total: a lot ...)
I think I enervated maybe 5 times ...

I have my original set of blue scarab dice that have always treated me well. Then I have a set of green marble dice that absolutely hate me. Like "beat me up and take my wallet" hate me.

My other dice I don't pay much attention to. But my D20's will rotate which one is being bad. Sometimes when I'm gaming.

I have a shiny blue d20. I use it rarely. It has almost NEVER let me down.

I use it ONLY in dire situations. Save or die, the villain is close to destroying us and I need to hit, that kind of situation.

I give it a smooch and roll it. It has never let me down when I truly needed it.

But I also use it fairly rarely. Ive tried using it for whole sessions and the luck wanes.

I had a friend who slept with his dice to bring him luck.

He rolled like 5 20s, and tons of higher teens.....but Im not sure if it was worth the looks we gave him.

I have a good amount of dice. My d4s-d8s are ussually pretty indifferent, My d10s/d100s ussually like to roll high. My D12s pretty much keep to themselves in their own bag. However, I have a number of d20s that are all of a different oppinion about me. I have a couple that feel that I should never fail a skill-check but should not commit murder. Others that think that battle is the only worthy endevor and a certain minority that think that I am evil and should never roll higher than 7. This small insurgency is being hunted a sentenced to death in the microwave.

I have one lone loyal d20. I have named it 'Black Death.' Black Death will smite any foe or skill check by rarely, if ever, rolling less than a 13.

I have a single d20. All other dice failed me and now I only have this one. Its in love with me, rolled 3 20's in a row, then a 17 and then another 20 one time when making a character. It had to be rigged, but I could not find out how. I claim it to be the luckiest dice ever. Lucky, I havn't lost it as its my only one.

My group makes our d4s lucky by sticking them to my forehead. Sometimes I can stick upwards of four or five on my forehead at a time, and they'll stay there for two or three minutes before my facial expressions make them fall off. It's awesome.

Whenever they're used after falling off, they tend to roll high.

the % dice love me. Miss Chance? What miss chance?!

The d6 hate me.

The d12 loves me.

I now play a barbarian :). Seriously considering switching the the greataxe over the greatsword. (I do 3+21 damage on 2d6?!). Glad I'm not a rogue.

I have an old blue set of dice, and the d20 hates my guts. Only ever seen it come up a 20 in gameplay once, and rolled many a 1 on various skill checks and attack rolls.
I have since picked up a set of speckled gold-ish dice, and they are very kind so far. d20 hasn't come up as a 1 yet, and it's even crit for me a few times.
All the other dice from both sets are fairly neutral towards me, acting, shockingly enough, like some form of random number generating device.

Ahhh, I remember "Monster Slayer" fondly.

It was a black D20 with 0-9 repeated. I colored one set of numbers in grey and left the others white. I don't remember which I designated as the teens and 20, but that die put up more 18s than it had any right to!

One game, the DM didn't like whichever color I designated as the teens and redesignated it for me so I had to reroll the Save vs. Poison. The result? With his switched colors I rolled a handsome 18, and he nearly swallowed his lower lip. :dice:

I know that statistically rolling a d20 is the same every time BUT in my group I am known as the guy who can't roll over ten to save my life (Or the groups, Or pass the test, Or disarm the trap). Most of the time that is OK because my di bonuses are allways high to compensate. Everyone in the group (Including the DM) know my d20 rolls suck. They laugh about it and ask why I don't switch dice? I have 10 d20s! What's the point? If I can't get one of them to roll over 10, what makes the purchase of new dice worth it?

My orginal set of dice hate me, so I had to see them replaced. My d20s are on rotation for being bad (everyone gives me odd looks when I tell one dice "You're not playing anymore!" don't know why... :) ) But my contingent of d6's seem to like me. Being a rogue, they are of course, my most beloved, so maybe that's it.
On an almost different note, I have so many dice, ive earned the title Dice W***e from the rest of my group. :D

11-01-06, 04:43 AM
You can never have too many dice. It's not possible. By the time you have so many it's a bad thing, thereby making the 'too' descriptor applicable, you lose some, which is why it's too many, but also the reason you no longer have too many.

Dm: you are at 1 hp
Me: Manir(ranger/arcane archer with +4 composite longbow of shocking burst) i attack him

They tend to get me out of instant death situations, such as when my already damaged party faced another party of equal leveled, equal sized, fully healed enemies with a suprise round.

Well, my dice don't like me really, but they hate my players.

If I am a Player, they roll crappy to decent.

If I'm the DM, I could never roll better.

d4 always gets a 4, d6 always gets 5 or 6, d8 gets 6 to 8, d10 gets 8 to 10, and d20 gets 17 to 20.

d12 hasn't actually come up yet. Poor guy.

The d20 and the d6 from my first set of dice (blue) absolutely love me.
The d20 has saved me from countless save or die situations almost always rolling a "17". Now I only use this set of dice in critical situations since they are so old and worn out the numbers are beginning to erase.

I've never had any d6s that were anything but fair. They always seemed completely reliable.

I loved my percentile dice, but I was always suspicious of them. They seemed to roll fair (not well), but they often let me down on important rolls.

I always wanted to bring A Million Random Digits (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Million_Random_Digits) instead of dice. I just like the idea of resolving die rolls by opening a tome. But I never did.

After many years of not playing, I no longer have dice and I use a die-rolling program.

I've got a blue d20 that I've dubbed Playersbane. It hits the most ridiculous AC more often than not, and crits frequently - even when I don't want it to! Sometimes I'm forced to change dice mid-encounter to try to recover from an imminent TPK scenario.

The downfall of this mighty bit of plastic is the fact that it can't make a save to save it's life. If the PCs start casting spells, I'm gonna have a dead BBEG on my hands in seconds. It's doubly worse in d20m, where a good shot with a high-powered pistol invokes a save vs. massive damage.

On the other side of the DM screen, it's powers diminish, but it has yet to let me down.

from my very first set of blue dice:

d20: Seems to like me, I rarely roll below an 8 on it, and I KNOW I should ahve rolled more 1s by now.

d12: Ummm, never used it except for a barbarian's HD, can't really tell from that

d10: when rolling 1(IE for damage) they like me, almost never roll below 5.
but when I roll them together for %, BAH!

d8: normal

d6: normal

d4: Wouldn't know, One of my players is always using it for magic missle, but it seems to go well for him.

My group had two d20s that were our "secret weapons". The first was a black-and-pearly sparkly die that always came up mysteriously high, but especially when used by a DM. It was decreed unanimously by the group that the sparkly die was for use only in dire situations.

The other is my special vomit-coloured 20. I call it that because it's this ugly mottled combination of green, brown, red, and yellow. It's horrible, but it has saved me from many a dire situation, when the Force tells me to roll that one instead of whatever d20 I was using (CURSE YOU, D&D DAY RED-AND-WHITE D20!!!)

Clearly, you've never been done by 3 crit failures in a row, or failed to hit something for an entire hour long encounter. Threatening the dice helps this go away. Honest.

I have a really nice set of orange dice I bought a while back... in general, they've been very good to me... all except that damn d20.

The d10s have never given a bad roll (and this is the only set I've ever gotten a straight 100 on a roll). All the other dice are pretty fair.

That d20 though, it taunts me... and the thing is, I ONLY get the bad rolls when I really need a good one. :(

I have a set of old school D&D dice in the black felt bag..

I tend to roll much higher that statistical average with d6. Basically I usually avoid playing rogues and avoid spell/powers that scale with d6 and that usually keeps the DM mostly happy.

Though the last game the DM had me roll 4d6 for scores and everyone else roll 5d6 drop 2 lowest reroll 1’s once and my stats were still considered the best in the group.

Then again that same DM got a set of weighted dice as a gag gift and I rarely roll a 6 on them (the number they are theoretically weighted to land on).

Nothing make someone cry like watching me get no score lower than 14 and 3+ 18 while rolling 3d6 more than 5 times in a roll with their dice. :D

Your dice will treat you the way that you treat them!!
I let them sleep in a soft leather pouch, and never mix them up with other players lesser dice
A couple of kind words pre-roll always seems to work well, and my set likes to stay on the table. If they roll off onto the floor by accident, then they can sulk for the rest of the night sometimes.
At the end of the game session, a quick bath with a diluted solution of rubbing alchohol will remove all impurities accumulated during the game, and will help my dice set get a good weeks worth of slumber( do YOU function well with no sleep?)
These little acts of kindness are usually greatly appreciated by my dice, and will greatly lengthen their game life.

I have a d12 that rolls at least 7s unless it's a damage roll.

Don't ask me how I analyse my dice results...
