We had a new PC introduced to the group last session a friend of ours (we are all friends playing toghter not just a group that meets at 10 on wednesday). The PC has a habit of playing realy sick twisted kinda characters this newest ones goal wasn't to get rich or get powerful but was to simply rape on of the women in the party.

He was warned that there was a RSoPelor (me) in the group before he rolled his character. Well the PC (i think his name was Rip) on our first meeting gets all up in me PC's face about being a wussy for following a god and being LG that type thing (while i was healing him now less and returning the items i recovered that he lost). It finally looked like it was going to come to blows but i know i can't attack someone being a paladin/cleric/RSoP. But i can blind him for 2d8 rounds and i did. before it came to violence i quickly neturalized the situation.

Now that i've briefed you on the two character history let me get to the hijacking. Rip continues to insult JJ (the RSoP) and even goes as far as to **** on me. It has gone far enough now.. I decide to give Rip a little lecture via a 9th level scroll i found in the underdark a scroll of converstion. So after Rip pisses on me and throws pubic hair at me he fails a will save and is converted to follwong Pelor.

the player protest and complains that I hijacked his character and that if i wanted to mess with the character i should have just fought him.

So what do you guys think did i hi jack the mans character? maybe but only after being constatly abused by him.

But before we debate on if its moral or not to change someone alighnment against thier will... I did okay with the DM (who just laughed and agreed with me)

Your DM sucks if he allowed a character like this. Also, your character can choose not to adventure with someone - why would he allow Rip in the party?

Brain washing the guy wasn't nice but he's just stupid for being all evil right next to a good guy. LG's fight all evil, not just tarrasques.

It seems like just about everyone in this game is a retard. Who in the hell plays like this guy Rip, and who the hell plays with this guy, knowing full well his sick twisted type of characters?

Just dump him, and smack your DM for letting it get this stupid then smack yourself for not smacking everyone else sooner.

If this woman was played by a human player, then whoever controls this Rip character has serious emotional issues and obviously some twisted attractions.

That is hilarious and he deserved it. I'm not sure you should have gone to such dire measures, but you didn't hijack his character. It's his own damn fault that he has to play characters in such a way that you would do that to him.

You didn't hijack him, it's his fault, and partially the DM's for not stepping in. If this happened in the group I DM I would take control of the situation the first few times PC's were at eachothers throats, and make sure to eliminate any problems. The worst thing is when PC's as people don't get alone because of characters.

What I would do personally if I was a PC would be to strip him of his most valued possession or ability. In this case, it's either his attitude or his genitals. That could disable any character from their current conflicting and righteous path.

Frankly, this is the kind of player who would quickly get his rear kicked by my group, literally. His character would then be ceremoniously burned -- except for the name portion, which would be tacked upon my DM screen as an example of stupidity.

Unless it was an evil campaign, his character would never have made it past character creation.

The blame lies not with your character, you did exactly what a Paladin/Cleric/RSoP should have done (aside from slaughtering the *******, which I think shows remarkable restraint on your part).

It's your DMs fault for letting the character in.

Did you hijack his character? Yes.
Did he deserve it? Also yes.
Did you act out of character? No.

When someone plays a character like that, he should expect good characters to respond. It was either what you did, or kill your character. Those were the choices.

first off, any characters whose goal in life is rape another player in the party has no business playing in ANY party. That is totally sick and inapporpriate for any mature dnd game. (yes. even evil ones.)

you acted noble and lawful good. No where out of character.

well done.

Yeah, the dude got what he had coming. Maybe being forced to play this guy for a while will teach him a lesson about not being a total jerk.

It sounds like you were just doing what your character would have done. I don't think you hijacked the character, and the moment that goal was announced that character should have been dropped, but don't blame your DM, because sometimes it can be hard to boot someone, even if it's nessicary. You acted perfectly, and some people just have trouble dealing with the loss of their characters.

Since the only other option probably available to you would have been to kill him....I'd say you did just fine.

Thanks for The replys
I was pretty sure my Character acted as he should but this is my first LG character and wanted to make sure.

The guy is a moron and he would either be required to roll up a new character or not play in my group. If he rolled up a new character and then proceeded to have this type of activity almost any character I've ever created would have killed him and then out of game booted him from the group.

I do tend to play chaotic good though, but either way this is not the kind of character who makes for a fun game. This player behind the character probably has some issues and this is their way of letting them out. It's still not appropriate however. I think your character acted exactly as it should have. Any Paladin would try to convert before killing and that's exactly what you did.

Far be it from any of us to lecture you or your DM on what sorts of campaigns to play. However, had any one of my players confided that their PC's main goal in life was to rape another of the PCs, that player would have been invited to the curb.

I'm not getting on a high horse here. If you are playing in the sort of campaign that involves adult themes, so be it. But any player whose goal is to harm one of the other players' characters, is basically confessing that he is planning on being a disruptive player.

His behavior would indicate so, as well. His attacks seem more personal than in-game, as you've described them.

The DM ought to thank you for doing his job for him in trying to control this weirdo.

That said, is it a legal move? Absolutely. Spells of this sort just go to prove that the player is meant to play the character as he is described. That means that if the PC is charmed, you play him as charmed. If he is possessed, you play him as possessed. If he is converted, you play him as converted. Otherwise, give him up to the DM to play as an NPC. In any case, the spell is legal, it is there for use, you used it, and that's Kosher.

He still has control over his character. He just has to play him as he is. It's a game condition. A legal one.

"if you wanted to mess with me you should have fought me"
translation:
"if you want to fight, do it on my terms"

your come back should have been
"if you want to fight you should have made your will save :P"

that's totally acceptable. maybe next time some roleplaying and explaining to him why pelor is hte right god blah blah blah would have been better.

Why was this type of character even allowed in the game? I mean he's got to be evil... right? The DM should have put down some sort of foot and said you could create that character, but this Paladin guy is just going to kill you off and you'll just have to create some other missguided dumbass. I don't understand the crazy crap that some DM's do so that the characters in the game fight each other when they should be fighting the crazy power hungery bad guy. I just don't understand how this was allowed...

Because some DMs lack the cajones God gave a mouse.

"I won't play unless I can play an evil, PC-raping son of a slitch!"

"uhh, but I want you to play, wouldn't you rather play a good character?"

"NO! Waaaaaaah! I want my mommy!"

"Fine, you can play the evil, PC-raping bastard."

"Son of a slitch"

"whatever"

I'm pretty sure the Dm told him that there was a LG RSoP in the group, My DM is pretty libreal and will players to do pretty much as they like...
AS do i when i DM if your ready to suffer what being evil means.. and it means Bounty hunters tracking you everywhere you go and constant fighting for you life.

Other than that little mis hap the campaign has been great, the entire party was almost killed by plants... I seriously never thought plants where that deadly.
Like i said these are all my friends so idon't think smacking anyone would do any good.

i don't get why anyone would, in their right mind (or wrong/inebreated mind, for that matter), would make a character solely for raping other PC's. though, i can't say i'm completely innocent of making a truly wierd character. i did make a monk once with improved grapple for the sole use of raping his enemies (it was fair to say that he was LE.) however, i only got to use him for one session (the group never got together after that), and i wasn't taking the campaign seriously anyways, and planned to have him killed off anyways (probably from 'grappling' with a very spiky creature).
