| Kyzer10-29-04, 11:55 AM | Im making a new character and i need some good ideas. It seems like i've seen them all! I don't want one of those dull characters that you see all the time. So if anyone has any sugestions for an different story line/weapon/class just post it here. I was thinking something along the lines of an evil elf(male) or a human(male) with some kind of twist. |
| CzarGarrett10-29-04, 12:58 PM | If you're asking us for ideas, then it won't be original |
| Kyzer10-29-04, 01:01 PM | Well i shouldnt say origanal. I mean different. |
| Wizard10-29-04, 06:24 PM | How about... A gnome who HATES the typical gnome joke stuff. "Sorry I broke your sword, but wasn't that funny?" (PC just looks at the other gnome and growls) "Heh...maybe not." He could hate his own name, preferring some more serious than "Allius Vonstockingbop." Or try and roleplay yourself. Seriously, think about how you'd act in a typical D&D campaign. Or maybe a good-aligned vampire, desperately trying to reverse his transformation, and trying to avoid killing innocents while he feeds his blood addiction. |
| Transit10-29-04, 07:38 PM | How about... Roll the character completely randomly. Go through the standard character creation process, and every time you reach a point where you have to choose something, let some dice decide. Roll randomly for race. Roll randomly for a class. Roll randomly for skills and feats. Don't allow yourself to deliberately "pick" anything. (Although you may have to re-roll a random result if it's absolutely impossible/i.e. a spell casting feat for a non-spellcaster.) Roll randomly for what weapon the character uses, what type of armor he (or she...or it...) wears. Get stuck on something? Flip a coin and keep going. Then when the character sheet is completely filled out, come up with a history and backstory that somehow explains this unusual character. The character may end up being a challenge to play, but it will certainly be original and not dull. And no one will be able to accuse you of min/maxing, since the character was created entirely by "fate." |
