And if so, what is the reach increase increments. If there isn't a rule on this, would it be too overpowering to a 5ft extra range increment for every catagory above large i.e. Huge weapons 10ft, Gargantuan 15ft, and 20 ft for Colossal. If not, would it be too powerful to all characters with reach above 5ft to add the extra reach they get. Thus meaning a Large character with a huge weapon would have 15ft reach 10ft normal plus 5ft extra from a large weapon. Thanks in advance. Xal Edit: oops, I meant to put this in the DM's forum. Sorry if it doesn't fir well here, but then again it is a general enough question I hope. |

Assuming you meant the Gigantic Weapon from the netbook of feats, and that you thought it was 3.0 From the text describing "Normal", and the date of copyrighting, it is clear that it is using 3.0 rules. GIGANTIC WEAPON [General] You are proficient at wielding extremely large weapons. Prerequisite: Str 15+, Base attack bonus +3 or higher Benefit: You can wield a weapon two sizes larger than you with two hands, suffering a -2 penalty on all attack rolls when doing so. Normal: You normally can only wield a weapon one size large than you with two hands. See that Normal line? The description of normal is 3.0. In 3.5, the equievelent would be: GIGANTIC WEAPON [General] You are proficient at wielding extremely large weapons. Prerequisite: Str 15+, Base attack bonus +3 or higher Benefit: You can wield a Two handed weapon one size larger than you with two hands, suffering a -2 penalty on all attack rolls when doing so, in addition to the -2 for using a weapon of the wrong size. Normal: You normally can only wield a two handed weapon of your size with two hands at no penalty or a one handed weapon 1 size larger than you with a -2 penalty, with two hands. Now back to your actual question. The reach rules for using oversized weapons are not clear, but I use a split the difference ruling. Assuming a Human used the feat Gigantic Weapon to use a Large Spiked Chain, I would grant him a reach of 15ft instead of the 10ft he would have gotten for using a Medium sized Spiked Chain, or the 20 ft an Ogre would have got for using a Large Spiked Chain. Note, the human would still have the -4 penalty to hit (-2 because it is the wrong size, and an additional -2 from the feat as payment for letting him use a weapon he normally could not use at all). I assume you are not happy with the -4 to hit for a mere 15ft reach. |

About that -4, that all depends on the character. If it's a rogue with weapon finesse in spiked chain for instance, it could reduce the penalties. Just an example for that. But thanks again for the input. Xal |
